In todays video we cover the lowering of a 2018 triumph street twin. Follow along to see how we lower this bike to suit a shorter rider!
With new shocks and some adjustments we lower the front and rear of this bike. The triumph is an already short platform which is the perfect base for smaller riders. Make sure to drop a comment and let me know your thoughts on lowered bikes.

Thanks so much for this video. Nice bike nice lowering custom. I bought my first Triumph a few days ago. I'm a short rider and didn't know what way I wanted to go for lowering. I'm at my tip toes. I think this is what I'm going to do. Thanks again and enjoy a good ride to you and your mom.🏍️

@@jaxxrs That is no problem! The shocks come direct from 'Hagon Shocks' and were £150 for the set. We originally started by cutting 25mm off the seat foam height and recovering it. Following that we fitted the 30mm lowering shocks as shown in this video. Since then we have moved to a 20mm lowering spring which is more suitable. Total lowering now sits at : 45mm I reccomend giving hagon shocks a call and having a chat with them. As part of the ordering process you have to pass over your rider weight so the springs can be chosen accordingly. They are super helpful so I expect you should have no issues. Lowering can be done in 3 sizes which are (10mm, 20mm, 30mm). Any other questions, let me know!

Thanks for the video mate. I did the same for my Royal Enfield 650 in exactly the same way. I did manage to drop my bike once while waiting at traffic lights because the road dropped away steeply on my left but that won't happen again now that the seat height is a much better match for my inside leg.

Brilliant to hear! being able to get your feet down and control the weight of the bike makes a massive difference. The majority of 'crashes'/drops all happen at low speed so its good to get the bike set up right to avoid it. I am pretty sure this bike has been dropped a few times now so dont feel too bad, it happens :)

So..... luckily we purchased the bike with the wheels already fitted, which was ideal. I am pretty sure they come off a T100/T120 Bonneville and bolt straight up. Maybe a case of searching eBay to find a second hand set. I think its a worthwhile investment, makes the bike look far better than factory wheels!

Hi, there is no direct link to the shocks on their website. I have attached the current Hagon price list for shocks. The ones in this video are the top 2 on the list. The best way to order is to call up Hagon and give your bike details and rider weight. That way you get a set of shocks to work perfectly for you. What about the bike stand. Usually lowering the bike, the original bike stand makes the bike more upright prune to it falling over?
@MasonsWorkshop
@MasonsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
A great point I should of touched on. So with the 30mm lowering the stand is still OK for every day use but as you say it does sit slightly more upright. Shortly after this video we fitted a new exhaust as well. (which I should of filmed). This exhaust is causing a small clash with the side stand….. Conclusion for this bike and the rider. 30mm is actually a little too Low, we will go to a 15mm lower spring which is in the middle. I tried to work out the best lowering amount prior to buying them but it’s hard to do without fitting real parts. The 30mm is still perfectly fine for really short riders, but we have already chopped the seat height so it’s not needed. Hagon shocks were great and are doing a straight return and swap for a different spring height. I will do a follow up video on the bike covering the changes in a little more detail. Equally if you have any specific questions feel free to contact me and I’ll help where possible 👌🏻

@@MasonsWorkshop why Not get an original Side Stand and shorten that one? you can cut the Base off, shorten the stand as necessary and weld the foot back on. And with the 30mm lowered shocks how does it ride since you also lowered the front? is the steering input still fine as the original?
@MasonsWorkshop
@MasonsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
@@ripmax333 This is something we are considering at the moment, I think its the route we will go! Bike rides perfectly fine, maybe if it was a more performance oriented bike you would see a bigger difference but for something like this its no problem.

Hi Katherine, my mum is 5'1. To get the bike to this height we took 25mm off the seat foam by a local upholstery firm and then went 30mm lower with the shocks.
