I bought three bottles of Dua, absolutely unimpressed. Went with Dark Casino Royale Elixir, Naram's Tuxedo, and Naram's Elixir. Have thrown them in a box, uninterested due to what I first thought was weak junk. Revisited them 5 weeks later, they are cooking nicely, definently stronger and better. I'll leave another month. The Dark Casino is definitely stronger and deeper colour! Macerated them by accident, it seems.

One thing that will help your fragrance to macerate faster. Get out a 10ml decant from your new purchased bottle. It will have much air inside to help alcohol and ingredients to work their magic. It will speed up a process little bit. You'll see. This one is for free 👋

In Dua, if you take a 10ml decant you are left with almost half an empty bottle, lol :) I think it would not be necessary to remove so much liquid, with only 5ml for example it would be more than enough and thus the fragrance is better preserved in its factory-sealed bottle.

My Oud Bois needed about 3 months to start smelling like TF Oud Wood. I was so disappointed when i 1st got it and it smelled NOTHING like Oud. I used it over and over throughout the 1st 1.5 months and was so disappointed. I let it sit anothe 2 months and now it smells fantastic! Im mad i used half the bottle before it mascerated.

Hey brother, glad i found your channel. Im glad you are talking about Maceration specially for oil based like DUA. They do need proper time to macerate. They def settle after a while. Noone talks about this often but its necessary with all perfumes. This happens a lot with Creed colognes for example. They sell so much thst they hardly ever macerate their fragrances properly so its on the user to do it. Good viddo

Great video! I let my Duas sit in the bottom of a wooden drawer, except I keep the tops off, then update my calendar for when I need to come back to check them (usually 4-5 weeks later). So tempting to not bother them while they rest. 😭

When I make a spray from scratch (add my own oil and fixatives/ resin to alcohol), the maceration goes into 3 stages. It's on another time table from this style. I think the resins I use take forever to macerate. Without those, it would be closer to 2-3 months total. Unblended oils take way longer than premixed oils because they need to also homogenize with each other and then the alcohol too. My experience looks like this: 1> 1-3 months- smells similar to original 2> 4-5 months= same smell but less alcohol blast 3> 6-12 months= so refined and smooth that notes create a more unified vibe and work together more than they stand apart. I wish there was a machine to speed maceration (so from scratch batches could age faster). I would buy it in a flash! This speed is keeping me from selling them. Oils in smaller quantities cost more per ml but larger ml is more upfront but less p/ml (except you make less varieties). You have to give props to Dua and the other clone houses, since they have the $ to premix drums of oil accords and for hundreds of various scents too! Money keeps me making many frags but in small batches.

@@whatsnext4130 I have just been wearing them. I wanted to sellthem, but I got stuck with trying to source bottles. Labels are hard to figure out (so it doesn't look cheap, yet represents quality; without raising the price, too much higher). The biggest issue is perfumer's Alcohol suppliers though. The one I was using was more organic (non-denatured perfumer's alcohol from France) and it didn't contain the bittering agents (carcinogens). Supposedly, I would need an alcohol license, to sell what I have, because someone with chemistry know-how could separate the solids from the organic alcohol and drink it.. it seems silly to me, but that's what I was told. Now, I'm stuck with having to buy the alcohol everyone else uses, but now the cost for denatured perfumer's alcohol is higher (due to its uses, for sterilization, during the pandemic). I'm only focused on the juice and not the presentation (until sourcing becomes cheaper). I haven't bought any more alcohol, so all I have is organic (including fixatives).

I screwed up when I started buying and sold 3 Duas at a loss the next day on ebay because I couldn't stand them. I wish I would have waited, because chances are, I would have liked them all. I kept one I didn't like a lot, Casino Tux, and didn't try it again for a month or two. I couldn't believe how different it smelled after that.

I just started my mixtur3 yesterday. My room full with sweetness scents from my mixture. Now, im really looking for some help on how to really store and macerate my mixture. While finding the infos im really gonna apply for my mixture, my mixture had already been kept under my bed (where it is darker) in an amber bottle. My question is, when i can have my mixture fully mature? Im bit confused coz a lot of different views and opinions repated to maceration. My formulation is with some EO’s. Great info. I KNEW that this was a real thing!!! I knew I wasn't crazy!! All the yabbos on Fragrantica Forums were tryna tell me that maceration isn't real. I had a small bottle of Zino 27 years ago when I was in high school and the juice changed color over the 2 years I had it. It went from a light amber juice to a dark brown juice that blew your socks off! I have a new 4.2oz bottle I'm trying to do the same thing to now.

I couldn’t agree more that basically all Duas need time to macerate. Their clone of CK Crave as well as Acqua Viva didn’t smell exactly like the originals when I first got them. Once about 2-3 months went by and I went back to them they smelled almost identical to the original scents.

You're the third person I've heard talk about letting Dua macerate. But I don't see any info about that on their website. Dammit Mega! Do you know how long I've been trying to attempt to watch this video and just never press the damn play button! Usually being sidetracked with your new videos you release first.. and just not going back to it! When I first got a few Dua fragrances....I was deeply disappointed like, WTF! But since I heard you talk about let them sit and macerate outside of this video, I let them set for a while, my newest to the collection are mod 3, Supernova and the casino, and era of vanilla, as I just rocked mod 3 for the first time in about five weeks since receiving it, went out shopping at Sam's Club and blew the minds of four people, including this gorgeous cashier, who was over the top explanation of how sexy and seductive my fragrance was! As I left the store, all I could do was think about how you said it goes beast mode after 4 to 6 weeks of putting it away in my file cabinet and having patience! So to anyone out there reading this do exactly what he says it's no bulshit! As I was disappointed upon first receiving it, 5 Weeks Later, and just one day out, 4 people were absolutely Blown Away! Just recently bought Intense Homme Attar and River Fougere. They both have a lemony furniture polish opening. Didn't realize they need to mature. Hopefully Homme Attar smells. Closer to Dior Homme Parfum which is next to impossible to get in the US now a days.
