A good way to describe a crown knot, is that you make it the same way you start of a paper star for Christmas, if you have made those. I struggled in the beginning but I recognized the method, and it was perfect first try. Maybe that will help someone who struggles. 😊 🤷🏼♀️

What were the final dimensions for this piece? Like top ring, down to bottom of the pot. Im trying to decide what kind of plant hangers to make, for 2 that will be on the left and right of my dining room table. But I need to make them probably quite short, like less then 2 feet total, ring to pot bottom. Debatably, more like 18 inches would probably be best. I can have a fringe tail extend farther tho. Im new to the macrame YT channels. Do you have any patterns that are super cute, that already got this particular size need? This one is super cute!! But I’m not sure it’s actual size. I was thinking I was going to do it with 2mm, which I just picked up a big spool of it. And I also have a beautiful spool of 1mm for more detailed things. I was planning on working on it tonight after I put my son to bed, so I’m trying to find ideas right now during the day.

I Have a plant hanger I started with four arms, rather than the three used in this tutorial. Do you think it will work if I just add additional lockhead knots to the additional sections? My total project from ring to knot needs to 42" for my sister's high ceilings. I've started with 4mm ropes cut to 20' and will just add more spiral knots to get the additional length she needs. I cut 3' sections for the lockhead knots. She has a variety of pot sizes so I figure I'll go for it and she can figure what pot it fits. Thoughts or suggestions?

This is so beautiful...I've been on a lookout for the basket plant hanger for sometime....and I'm so thrilled to have found yours. Explanation is simple and to the point. I'm surely going to try this one. I have a query....which cord would be best....single strand or twisted or braided. Tia 💕
@SimplyInspiredbySheena3 жыл бұрын
💙 aw I’m so happy you like my pattern! 🥰 I used 3.35mm single strand cotton for this plant hanger but you can use any cord that you mentioned. It’s all personal preference; but I do have to say, braided cord will unravel at the ends in an unflattering way. So if you choose braided I recommend dipping the ends in wax to prevent that OR you could tie overhand knots or even barrel knots at the end instead of the wax. Hope you enjoy and feel free to tag me on instagram with your completed plant hanger, I’d love to see how it turns out ☺️💙

Have just finished all the spirals and about to join them all, I have absolutely loads of rope left below, have went wrong somewhere!!
@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
💙 Hello 👋🏻 I think you should be alright. You will make several rounds of alternating square knots at the basket portion which will eat up a lot of length. Plus the crown knot at the bottom uses a bit of length too. However if you do find that you still have lots of leftover rope, sometimes it’s due to variations of our rope as well as tension. It’s always preferable to have extra than not enough, you can always repurpose your cut offs as fringe or a feather. I’m sure it will turn out beautiful! ☺️

Help! I’m a newbie to macrame and trying to make this hanger. There’s a few things I’m not sure of though. I’m ok right up to the 3rd larks head. So my questions are. Does the 4th larks head form a square knot with the joining square knot. And when you start the 6 rounds of square knots, where do you start and how do you not lose track of where you are. I’ve had to unpick mine at least 3 times lol. I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong!! Please and thank you.
@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
Shelley Nutbrown 💙 Hi Shelley! Nope, the joining square knot doesn’t get worked in with your larks head. Treat that knot as already done and fill in square knots between them in that row. Gosh I hope that makes sense, it’s hard to describe in writing. With the 6 rounds you can see if you are missing a knot in a row, it doesn’t make a difference where you start and end. It might have been difficult to see if you were working your larks heads into the joining square knot. If you are on instagram feel free to DM me, I can send a quick video response to show you more clearly 💙

@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
💙 Hello, yes you would probably want to add more cords to the basket but you need to add in multiples of 4....I’d try 36 and I’d cut them at 100” long because you’ll probably need to do a few more rows too. OR...you could space out the square knots on the original pattern which would give you a more mesh looking basket.

Hi and thanks for the amazing tutorial. I am planning to use 7" pot and I have a couple of questions here: 1- should I use longer cords than 240" and 60"? Do you have any recommendations? 2- what size should be the gap between the spiral knots and square knots to fit 7" pot?
@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
Aly Hassan 💙 Thank you! For a 7” pot I suggest adding 6 or 12 extra cords to the basket section. This will add 3 or 6 extra square knots around the base. You might need to do some trial and error. I’d also increase all cords (except the gathering knot cord, 40 inch one) by an additional 30 inches each. As for the gap that might vary depending on the shape of the pot, just double check a few times before carrying on with the rest of the base. Hope this helps 💙
@Aly_Hassan4 жыл бұрын
@@SimplyInspiredbySheena thank you so much for taking the time to reply to this. So, let me get this straight. I might add 6 or 12 lark head knots to the four sections, so each section will have 5 or 6 lark head knots instead of four. The extra square knots resulting from this will help to incorporate the extra height of the pot. And also I might add 30 inches of length to all cords just to be on the safe side because the extra square knots will need more cord length. Am I getting that correct?
@cmstrauss5144 жыл бұрын

Is the cotton cord good to use for outside planters?
@SimplyInspiredbySheena3 жыл бұрын
💙 No I don’t recommend for outdoor use. The fibres will break down and yellow in UV rays. You need a good quality spun polyester…just be careful what polyester rope you use as they tend to not hold knots as well due to the smooth texture. Here is one I recommend, it’s rot and mildew resistant and feels very similar to cotton: ropeshop.ca/shop/cotton/spun-polyester-macrame-cord/

Good morning. I am new to macrame and this was my first project. I would like to make the holder larger in circumference. How would you suggest I do this? Should I increase the inches between the end of the last spiral knot and the square knot? Should I also increase the number of larks head knot between each square knot and by how many? I really enjoy this project. I am working on my 3rd one!
@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
Devon McClintic 💙 hello, wow you’ve done three of them!! Thats awesome! Okay so there are 2 ways you can make it larger to accommodate a bigger pot. The first way, yes...you can space out your square knots apart giving it more of a net look. OR you can add more larks head knots around the portion that holds the pot. Just be sure to keep it in multiples of 4. With both ways, I’d also increase the length of your cords. The bigger the basket the more knots used which does eat up a lot of length. Hope this was helpful, and thanks for watching 💙

Devon McClintic 💙 you’re very welcome! I think you’re a rockstar for doing this one as your first project! It’s not the easiest pattern
@requellf1394 жыл бұрын
Beautiful pattern! Is it possible to use knitting yarn for cordage or do you have to use specific macrame cord/rope?
@SimplyInspiredbySheena4 жыл бұрын
💙 Hello, thank you! You can use yarn but it’s extremely difficult to work with, it stretches and doesn’t hold shape too well depending on what yarn you use. If you do try yarn for this pattern I’d recommend a thick cotton. It may alter the size of your finished project too so just keep that in mind. 💙

💙 Thank you! Price is extremely variable but my general rule of thumb to calculate price is: supplies x2 +hourly wage This formula is a good starting point and you can make adjustments according to your supply and demand Hope that helps 💙

Hi there, we are a bit lost with the lenght of the cords, we are from Spain so when we converted inch to cm we get 6 cords of 6m each, Is that correct? Or we have to divede 240" in six cords? Thank you very much for your help 😊😊😊
