@@WillHirsch What about the bushings though? They don't need oiling? No KPL needed? Just checking because I really don't want to misinterpret that ^^. Also how effective is loctite? Because he squiddy-B is supposed to come loctited but after one day of use the screws need tightening. So I'm wondering if either that's normal and loctite does something else, or if it doesn't last too long, or it didn't hold. Or perhaps they didn't use loctite?

I cannot agree with more “Using windex to clean handles”. Has saved me a ton of times when selling a knife that had a greasy handle from flipping after eating a burger and fries. My only grief with windex is that it may have slightly hurt the PVD coating on my HOM specter, but since that is the only bali I can think of with a pvd coating atm, I HIGHLY recommend using windex (or generic glass cleaner brand) for balisong handles

Greetings Will, Great video production as usual. You have a great personality for this and I love watching. I feel like you may have gotten a few things unnecessary in this that I wanted to point out from someone who tunes knives for pay. if you have to adjust your screws every time you flip unless u use loctit I’m guessing your bushings are not good. Also I would say you’re giving a bit of half information in Miss truth when it comes to fitting ““ washers because if it’s a bushing knife odds are it’s the bushings not the washers, The physics of how a knife works unless it’s a channel balisong washers really don’t affect how it is tuned all that much you hear people say that all the time when they sell their knives because they want to make it easy for someone who is looking to buy it to fix the tolerance issues but when I get knives in it’s almost never just the washers that need to be replaced.This is coming from tuning almost 100 knives. The orange Kraken trainer for example you should be able to keep that thing cranked all the way down without it exhibiting any kind of binding. Now squid isn’t known for having very great tolerances on their version one Kraken‘s so you can send it back to them and they will take care of that for you that way you won’t have to use any more Loctite on it. That means the bushings are too short by just a touch and you’re basically running only on washers that’s why you’re forced to use Loctite. I personally have never you used Loctite on any bushing Bali after I get done tuning it. it will have barely any play at all if any, and no tap with the ability to crank down on the pivots as hard as possible. So when you say that you have to adjust your pivots daily without LoctiteI feel bad for the tuning health of ur collection. Now if you have a washer Driven knife and by that I mean only washers, you have to use some kind of a Loctite but I prefer using some thing like para cord or Teflon tape because it holds justice tight and instantaneous. The nice thing about Squid And BRS is they use the same inner and outer diameter of bushings on all of their bushing driven models. So for someone who tunes knives I keep a lot of that size bushing and I just cut them down and use my bushing a lap tool to do final sizing. If you have any of those knives that you’d like tuned up feel free to hit me up otherwise for the Kraken all you need to do is mail it back to squid and they will take care of it for you for freeThe version to Kraken is much better I just got my first one a few days ago and I didn’t need to touch the bushings unlike my four other v1 krakens. Now for your audience I doubt this is going to cause any issues and you may know all this but I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn’t have to use that much Loctite I don’t even remember where mine is. Respectfully @relapse_kid_a

I used The inner strands of para cord instead of lock tight. The nylon strings have enough friction inside the pivot to keep it from backing out. Burn off the extra.
@balisongjihad4108
@balisongjihad4108 4 жыл бұрын
That is a good trick but if you have bushings you really shouldn’t have to use any kind of Loctite that’s the whole point of bushings should be able to take them down literally as hard as you can possibly go without having your handles bind. But for any knife that only uses washers para cord is a great easy way to do it don’t have to wait a day

I suggest ditching blue loctite for red 262, it’s way higher strength and does not, I repeat, does NOT require heat to remove or clean. It’s fussy but acetone breaks it down and shouldn’t harm your bali. Unless it has like dye or something in the G10 so then maybe. I guess I’m speaking in terms of titanium or steel or aluminum handles

Good stuff man, never heard of using Windex for cleaning, but I'll keep that in mind. Every Loctite tutorial I've seen, they're applying the Loctite directly to the screw instead of putting it inside the pivot, as you did - any thoughts on that? Your way sure looks easier, I ended up having to magnetize my driver and keep the screw on the tip while I applied Loctite with a toothpick, it was kind of a pain. Looking forward to your Serpent Striker review, I got one recently and I'm mostly happy with it. It's my first bearing pivot knife and it's very smooth. Thing is, I don't especially care for the material they use on the outside of the handles (carbon fiber, I think?) It feels weirdly bouncy, if that makes any sense? Like when I'm finishing an open or close, the handles momentarily strike and bounce off of each other. And for some reason I often end up pinching my thumb between them when I do closes, never had that problem with other knives. Might just be my own sloppiness. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for the review. Peace brother

Will is the only person I've seen on KZbin that applies the loctite correctly, at least for balisongs that use sex-bolt fasteners. A sex-bolt fastener is what is called a blind-hole assembly- air cannot escape from the bottom of the female end as it is closed off. Thread lockers should always be applied to the threads of the female portion of the blind-hole assembly. You should only ever apply threadlocker to the male screw part of the fastener when said fastener is a thru-assembly- where air can escape through the female end of the fastener because it is open allowing the air to freely travel through. I don't get why all of these other big balisong KZbin channels (Squid Industries for example) get this wrong... A simple search of instructions from any thread lockers manufacturer will clearly state the same as I have here.

Ok so I’m typing this after the rest of it basically in short Boker plus trainer $30-50 (you can get it on bladeHQ and a few other places) Andux trainer off amazon $26 And if you need cheaper the lofri BTFLKNS Amazon trainer is another you can go for $10 And I’ll edit in the links here if I can find this comment agin www.bladehq.com/?search=Boker+plus+balisong That’s the bokers $30-50 This is the Lovfri one $10 BTFLKNS Practice Butterfly Knife, Unsharpened Butterfly Knife for Training, Safe Dull Without Danger with Spring Lock, Made of Reinforced 18/8 Stainless Steel for Training Enhancement Skills(Orange) www.amazon.com/dp/B086S7Y7YJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0UkOFb5372FHD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Much long link holy crap And this is the one he recommended for $26 (also it comes in red and black too) Andux Land Folding Stainless Steel Flip Player Lightweight CS/HDD45 (Orange) www.amazon.com/dp/B07PJY251J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fZkOFbEMSMY39?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Ok why does amazon feel the need to make the links so long?? And here’s the ones I have that I can half recommend but I’d say go for the boker or Andux Fecedy 2pcs Butterfly Knife Trainning Practice Comb Unsharpened Blade for Practicing flipping tricks www.amazon.com/dp/B014ZHGYCQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_G1kOFbKNKHPWE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Anyways I’d say go for boker or andux and I’m STRONGLY recommending that And here’s what I wrote originally that I cover in other stuff lol He made a video on this where he recommended one that’s like $26 dollars in amazon so you can ether buy that or boker plus has a few good trainers under $50 too But if you don’t wanna spend much money at all I have the $10 2 pack of “fecedy practice butterfly knife...” and I will say it’s cheap and one of them keeps falling apart but it’s ok if you just want something you can beat up and lose But I HIGHLY recommend you start with one of the other two I don’t know for sure how bad these trainers are I’ve never flipped anything else but I can tell that their bad so I’d say go for boker plus or the andux balisong trainer off amazon There’s also the “BTFLKNS practice butterfly knife...” that’s a MUCH better trainer he’s talked about that I forgot about before And I would just like to add sorry this was so long and disorganized I was kinda jumping around I hope this helps!

OH I just remembered you could also do the squiddy for $40 but it will be hard to go from that to a real blade sense it’s so light www.bladehq.com/item--Squid-Industries-Squiddy-Butterfly--83793

You should get a pro v3 for Christmas, it’s a really good flipper and has perfectly tuned bushings , washers, and zen pins, it has a bunch of pros (hence its name) and like two cons, if that’s to expensive you should get a bbarfly og2, it has bushings but there aren’t perfectly tuned they still have bushings and no washers but there are TANKS, and they will definitely last you, both of these options are great though

I got one and it's great. Only negative thing: i'm not a fan of the pin system. Sometimes when youre doing rollovers or sth it bites youre skin. But Everthing else is great, seriously. The quality, the play, the balance, it's very quiet and sounds satisfying, the weight (it's a very light knife, i like that). And of course the color 😍 I got the one with silver blade and golden handles and it looks amazing!

@@whitedayblade1656 Dude if you’re getting bit by a tang pen then your form need some practice Zen pen nerves so really the only thing people ever get that from and even from those it’s resulted from not starting With enough handle before the pivots at the start of the trick with your thumb. But maybe you’re thinking of this and nipple on a different knife Because the Nautilis has tang pins which should never touch your fingers on any trick. Hit me up for help if u want @relapse_kid_a. One of my Balis is really well tuned, but one bearing has a squeak. I really don’t want to take it apart until I really have to though. I chalk it up to a unique bali sound.

@Will Hirsch, in the beginning of the video it looks like you have bladed version of the artisan cutlery kinetic tool, I have been looking for a replacement to make mine have a live blade and have not found one yet. If I am correct and that is what you have can tell me where you got it. Thanks
