I did my own relaxer 3 weeks ago, it came out pretty good, same product my hairstylist uses Affirm sensitive scalp no lye. I only visit a salon every 11 to 12 weeks, just for touch up. I pray for all salon owners that are affected by this Virus. I agree with you on the pre-poo steps, that's exactly how I treat my roots, ends and hair for about a year, (warm the oils & mix with conditioner) it does keeps roots soft. In addition,make your own Shea butter product. I make my own 12 ingredients pure 100% organic oils and jar them and selling them since 8 mos. When my hair stylist see me , it's always, wow your hair is growing! Just Treat relax hair like natural hair, use the LCO method. We can't wait for salons to manage our own hair on our own heads. Be blessed! Thanks for video!

Thank you for this! I’ve been fortunate to get hair professionally done almost my whole entire life (since I was 6 years old) and never really bothered to look to much into what products I use to wash my hair because I just normally get it done for me. But this quarantine has changed that all so I’m thankful for videos like this to help me maintain my hair and take care of it too! I’m the worst when it comes to taking care of my hair but now’s definitely the time to turn that around because I don’t know when I’ll be able to see my hair stylist next! ☺️❤️❤️

Would love to see a video on how you met your stylist Gloria & why you’re her repeat client - how specifically you chose her (i.e., referral from trusted friend, family member, or coworker); did you interview her first, asking lots of questions or did you take a chance & hope for the best, etc. Did you visit her salon first, checking out its cleanliness & level of excellence (i.e., upscale decor & equipment or a whole-in-the-wall & very dated decor & equipment). I haven’t seen a video yet on “how to choose a stylist” so I thought I’d pitch the idea to you.

I have so much shedding because I have a lot of new growth and my hair is not manageable, I'm afraid that all the length that I gained goes for waste, also thinking about relaxing my own hair but I don't want to ruin it cause my hair stylist is the one who has been relaxing it for years. At this point I don't know what to do, I hope this video works a little bit. Also I hear green tea works well for hair shedding soI'm trying it too.

Free pools are excellent especially when stretching out your relaxer because it really does well in my case it manages the new growth and it helps to keep those new growth a little straight to me it does I use my avocado moisturizing hair milk I love that stuff it really helps when I'm stretching you did an amazing job I was thinking about doing a video like this because a lot of people are asking me about what can they do most of them are trying to do their own relaxer and I told them if they had someone that knows how to do it is best to get someone that knows how to do it since the salons are closed. Your hair turned out really nice I'm not concerned about length either just a healthiness of my scalp and my hair :-) stay safe God bless you💕🙏

oh my! I could not find the relaxer I use anywhere, yesterday, during this stay in place quarantine in NYC. I self relax. Plus, where I could find relaxers, there are very few on the shelves. I wanted to cry. I just ordered on Ebay today. the first time I had to order my relaxer on Ebay. I first contacted the seller to see if they were even open and then to see if they had the ability to mail it out to me during this quarantine. The Drug Store chains like Duane READE and CVS, and Target no longer had hardly any relaxers. I may budget and buy a few more online, in case they too start running out. maybe enough for a year. I am into length, and I am doing very well so far. Dear God please help us. Amen.

OMG. I'm so sorry! I live in Ottawa where there are like, 5 black people who live here, so relaxers abound! I was just thinking that I may just have to self-relax myself. I'M SCARED!!! Good luck, Michelle. Stay safe and healthy, ok? And good luck with the relaxer!
@michelleclark80994 жыл бұрын
Domonique; If you self relax, it is easy. If possible use the relaxer that is your favorite. The night before you relax, (secret tip) put vaseline on your hair that is not supposed to be relaxed, because it is already relaxed, and put some of your favorite oil (no vaseline on the new growth~just the oil) on the new growth, and go to bed. The next day, Just section and make a part or loose braid or twist one section, in the bang area and clip. Just to keep separated. Then two separate lose braids or twists, one on top of each other on the sides, and split the back, and one on top of each other in the back and clip. So that is a total of nine sections, ( this secret tip: gives you a lot of control to get through the thickness of each section and you can work quickly and get in there with the relaxer) and you can then clip the braided or twisted after you loosen it up, and put the relaxer and clip each section. Four sections like they say on the box, is just too much thick hair and new growth to be thorough. It looks easier, but you have less control than with the nine small sections. Start at the back, and put the relaxer on each of the four sections of new growth and then the two sections on the sides and then the bang. And clip out of the way as you Work. Finally the edges. then smooth, until you feel it is straight enough for you. You know how straight it should be according to your other hair that is already relaxed to match the texture. And then, grab all the sections up high with one of your hands and rinse out the relaxer holding the hair up, so that the relaxer goes down and does not run down the already relaxed hair. (secret tip) This is something that beauticians should do, but most do not. Then shampoo with the neutralizer a few times until all the relaxer is out, and complete your regular way of styling.

Great time to consider going natural! :) You can easily transition by continuing to straighten your new growth so it blends with your relaxed hair to prevent breakage (using a flat iron and/or electric hot comb). If you don't like the natural look, many naturals just keep their hair flat ironed and their natural straightened hair is thicker, stronger and chemical free! A silk press (flat iron) looks just like relaxed hair, you'll love it! Gloria can help you keep the new growth nice and straight with heat! ;)

Angela Joy I have the same problem. After much research, I learned that it’s from having my bun at the same place every single day (and the bun is maybe too tight). I now style my buns in different places or do loose chignons or two braids. I also now deep conditioner my hair in sections to make sure that all of my hair is benefitting from the conditioner. I concentrate on that back piece that’s shorter. I also cut my hair today to even it out. Hope that helps and thanks so much for your kind words!
