I can't think a small blower would flow enough air to keep that setup properly cooled for extended use... Even my 120w LED torch which is one of my smaller ones uses the CPU cooler off an AMD FX 8150 and just on the 100w mode it ramps the fans up! For reference though I target around 50*c on the aluminium substrate on the chip. That I find gives you a good balance of efficacy and life. The cooler you can keep these LEDs the better they can perform.
@MrZurikmurik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! You are perfectly right, as much active cooling you add so much better and long life performance will be guaranteed for LED.
@amymoriyama66163 жыл бұрын
I've never messed with these LED things but just ordered a couple of 100-watt cob LEDs. I decided to pair them with used CPU coolers that were used on 95-watt CPUs. We shall see how it goes. For power (since I accidentally ordered 12V LEDs lol), I snagged a cheap used server power supply and will modify it to allow me to get up to 60 amps DC out of it at 12V. Should be plenty for the fans and LEDs lol.
@DigBipper1883 жыл бұрын
@@amymoriyama6616 Should be about good enough for these LEDs. They do make a fair amount of heat but most PC CPU coolers for 65+ watt chips will be sufficient to keep them cooled enough to last a while.

You could get a 60mm 110v fan and use the same plug as the LEDs. instead of using a 5v fan and the 5v wall charger. Do the LEDs flicker?
@MrZurikmurik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. That is an option too. But I used whatever I had in stock :). The lite doesn't flicker.

Good work but heatsink is too small for 100w i think or you need a bigger fan ? I mounted 6x50w red spectrum on artic (alpine 12) heatsink it's excellent no heat it's even cool :D

220v from in same line? Did you contact it parallel? By the way thnx for share
@MrZurikmurik3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for comment! Yes I connect them parallel. So I took 110v ( I am in USA) and split positive line in two wires and the sam with negative line. You can do it your way but in parallel.

@@MrZurikmurik You split on wire into two, then you added a fan. Thanks.
@MrZurikmurik4 жыл бұрын
@@RaphaelDawkinsCombatRadio ohh, sorry. I though step of soldering wires are not important when splitting. idea is that I split one positive into two and the same with negative line. or you should not split anything, just jump wires from one LED COB to another. Regarding fan: it just has separate 5v line so, it was just a matter how and where I fixed fan to aluminum sink.

For example to make 500w how to connect it in parrael or series anyway
@MrZurikmurik4 жыл бұрын
@@MrGiodude17 sorry, I don't dare to recommend anything about 500w. It is too much watage to make on the same platform, you would need to calculate square of aluminum heat transmitter and decide to put air or liquid cooling system.
