It is better to use bolts made of non-magnetic material - stainless steel or bronze. Magnets will not cling to them with their field. Magnets are best placed on steel rotor discs as thick as the magnets themselves. On the reverse side, the magnetic fields will close and the force on the coils will increase. Good luck.

Make sure your 4 bolts and nuts are non magnetic... use stainless steel if you haven't already. Nice effort!
@timothyhaug20604 жыл бұрын
You used metal nuts and bolts. While negligible, the magnetic attraction to the metal will cause a drag inefficiency. Better to use plastic or nylon nuts and bolts.

It's very cool project.. and I hope you will show us "A" ( ampere )also... keep it up ...
@problemchild9594 жыл бұрын
its very simple to calculate. considering it had no issues with a 35 watt bulb but the 100 watt bulb was very dim I'd guess its putting out about 30 watts. using a simple calculator 30 watts @ 220 volts = 0.13 amps or 136 milliamps. I made something very similar and the amp output with what I tested was very dependent upon the gage of the wire used in the coils. smaller thickness wire causes lower power, while thicker wire generates more.
@harleyme31634 жыл бұрын
giving the gauge of that wire? around 0.001 to 0.01 look it up what guage you'd need to get even 1 amp at 220 volt, not to mention the number on windings. ( 16 gauge = 4 MILLION windings) lol
@problemchild9594 жыл бұрын
Harley Me actually it has to be putting out at least 0.1 (30 watts / 130 miliamps) or the 35 watt bulb would not even have lit up.

Voltage will not kill you, you need amps to kill you. Voltage is just part of the equation. You need amps to make power. If it were as easy as making a big one of these, it would have already been done. Oh, it has. They are littered across the planet. Wind turbines. A single commercial wind turbine cost over $1M USD. Personal wind generators or hydro generators can supplement your household requirements but you won't likely produce enough power to feed to the grid. We will get to efficient alternate power production and we should continue to try but, currently, if you live in the city, fossil fuels are way cheaper. For full disclosure, I run some of my power needs from solar generation and lithium-iron-phosphate batteries for storage.
@leightonwestbury922 жыл бұрын
@@tonyheaton4941 fossil fuels are way cheaper ? are you sure about that ? my ev costs £8.50p to fully charge and gets me about 220 miles, no petrol or diesel car will do that .......solar power is the way to go both direct from the sun and also from the wind (which is still solar) with the minium impact on the planet unlike nuclear

Does polarity of magnets matters, I mean there are two disk in which magnets are placed so is there anything like place them one disk in all north and other one with all south kind or randomly put anywhere?
@siemiradstarza47014 жыл бұрын
The neighbours of a magnet need to have diffrent polarity. Let's say you put your first magnet with the N side pointing upwards. Then the magnet to the left and to the right need to be pointed with the S side upwards. And so on. It cannot be random. You can clearly see how he checks the polarity of the magnets before putting them in the holes.

connect the drill to the energy output and see if it is self sustaining ( clue , it wont be ) The drill is putting more energy in than the energy output of the device. So if you have energy to run the drill you don't need the device. However it could be useful in a wind turbine or water wheel where energy is provided by the environment.

what differance would it make on output v and a
@TheresTyrannyAfoot Жыл бұрын
Wrong....by aligning another magnet on the other side of the coil he's causing the Flux fields to reach through the coil to each other....the way you stated is inefficient because a majority of the magnet Flux field would be trying to reach back to its own opposite pole passing minimally through either set of coil...your method would be better for a motor like configuration tho because you could interact with the magnets with twice the power....
