I would really love for you to do more tutorials on 2D! Like animating expressions for anime style or semi realistic face, or just more complex looking art in general. I would love to see running/walking or other actions. Thanks for this tutorial.

Thank you for the feedback, that's definitely a good idea for a tutorial, I will try to see if I can do it :)

Pose library is outdated in this video, and the new one is not working for me, could you address this? This was a great tutorial.

Wow. This is so helpful. This just shows there are several ways to rig a 2d face. I have watched a number of videos and found them rather confusing. They use lattice modifiers, masks, weight painting, vertex groups, etc. All confusing and so I just gave up but I’m gonna give it another go after watching this. I’m just wondering how one would add ears and hair to this. Also how to move the pupil to one side but still have it masked by the eye. Well done.

I am glad you found it useful, using lattice is one way to go about it I guess, this is just the basic technique you can add as many layers as you need for your character.

The pose library is very frustrating, buttons are just not there, nothing works, there is no delete for a pose, and videos act as if it is simple, or the videos are outdated.

Also, could one combine this kind of rig with manually drawn animation for the same character?. For instance drawing in the body and arm movements using grease pencil.

Didn't really think about that, I am not really good at manual drawn traditional Animation, but you could draw in a body with a grease pencil and rig it with the same aramture and animate the rig. I usually combine this face rig with the rig I show here in this tutorial. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmOkfHV7ed-Lq6M
