Why do most tubers insist on using a spark plug, although not using the plug functions? Another thing, just how long does the connection need to provide enough heat to work.

Make use of whatever you have around you, spark plugs are something you can easily find and they insulate very well! you heat it up enough to melt the tin then start soldering

It even works with a dead battery,as long as it is a battery. However be careful with the spark plug as high voltage could be very,very dangerous.

I found out that only Zinc-Carbon batteries have that carbon core. Alkaline batteries don't.
