Hi! No it's not 😋 it's a piece of cotton fabric... I cut some old sheets or the shirts. The secret is to apply a very small amount of dye to the leather. The cloth needs to be almost dry

Unique press-corkscrew handle. But with the punches going onto the brass piece on bottom, does it not dull the punches?

It makes the cuts very clear... the press has a rotated arm and the pressure can be controlled. The dies should be replaced depending on the use. I have mine for 3 months and it still sharp! Unfortunately I haven't found plastic bases for this press to compare.

You can search for rivet setting press machines on AliExpress or Amazon. However none of the has 1mm punch hole die. The smallest punch die diameter available for those machines is 2mm.
