How do you switch power between usb cable and external? Is your external cable connected to the board along with usb cable power lines? So if you connect hub to power adapter and then connect it to laptop with power switch on, will it fry the usb port on laptop, since you will send power to the computer through same lines that suppose ro supply power if the hub isnt powered?

If you separate the power or powering from external only even the negative lines are connected, the data line won't work for device who need extra power, such as external HDD. It still need the complete power line from Laptop USB connected when you use external power. Learn and practice something before comment like a pro.
