Great vid man, I live in Ireland and me and my friends have been talking about this for a while now. You have actually gave us a great deal of help. It's rather expensive though.

Guys, I found your video through a link on a wikihow. I've got to say reading through the comments and seeing all the props from wrestlers is awesome. You've earned a new subscriber that's for sure. I started out in the business at 12, and my brothers built their first ring in our parents basement back in 1990. I've been around the business my whole life but I retired from the ring due to mounting health issues, not directly linked to my time as a wrestler. I've wrestled in an old Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling ring, one of those 8 sided rings that TNA decided was a good idea, and I've been in a few custom built rings. I've got to say you guys have my respect, especially considering the limited amount of padding you're using. Be careful out there, seriously, it's a dangerous business. I remember getting elbowed in the colarbone one time and not being able to lift my arm for hours and hurting to breathe. I'll definitely take a look at some of your shows you got on here. You guys ever need anything feel free to give me a shout. I can even give you some phone numbers for some guys if you want to move forward with a career in this.

about 3 days of work, and materials i went with was around 500 for the frame., and tarp, padding was free, ropes where order around 500, about 1000. about 1200 with padding and ordered ropes, going with nylon ropes, about 750

Awesome work fellas. And yes it's ways to get alot of your materials cheaper, it just takes time to collect and store. Yours is cheaper than the others I've seen here that have a series of 2×10s? Or wider? for the floor. THATS CRAZY EXPENSIVE AND MORE FLOORING MATERIAL THAN A HOUSE. But for 6 grand they will deliver..brand new. Yours is better. I helped set up one similar for the NAWA in Va . It had a weird looking spring/hydraulic device under center like where your center 2x4 is ....that absorbed bump. it had Boards not plywood ( plywood like yours is my choice) . Love the black plastic idea. 3mm will last a long time. So will Gorrila Tape. In weather. Only thing I would have did is ...on your outside apron board/band I would have padded heavily and permanently secured. Padding is dirt cheap. Love the TIN sound effect!! Epic.. and I would shave the edges off your ring posts ..cheap paint would help with smoothness on posts too. Ain't no real cheap way to go with ring ropes AND TRUST ME you don't want a half ass job on your ropes. Getting dumped over from rope failure is a hospital trip. Those old wrestlers feel all over the ropes before a match. Watch an old video of them inspecting ropes . I work at a building supply house and we recently done an outdoor stage that is total badass but then the dam covid hit and I'm not sure on the status of stage. Again you guys really put together a nice unit. Gonna see your other videos now. Huge wrestling fan from 80s and right in middle of JIM CROCKETT PROMOTIONS territory. Jimmy Valiant has a school right up the road here. I've drank a beer or two with all the Top Carders at Roanoke Marriott here in Va after civic center matches. Again I'm using your design if I build one. Mine would be indoor. Well under roof.

Hey man. this is a pretty good ring idea. Im Blazin Brian. Im semi retired but I was trained by Ivan Koloff back in 1994 and competed in American championship wrestling. our ring was very similar to yours. I remember our side beams were 2 2 by 12s bolted together. 3 2 by 6s would run side to side as support,but they had some kind of steel hooks bolted to each end that would fit right over the 2 by 12s. that would hold it tight. but your cable is still a good idea. the 2 by 8s would fit right over the 2 by 6s. our floor was 21 16 foot 2 by 6s,i think. but plywood is cheaper. im gonna use your plans and build my own traing ring. I have a lot of folks that want to train.

What did you use for the mat and where do I buy the ring ropes from because my friends and I are looking to build a wrestling ring this spring. And also did you say that you measured it buy 17 then you said WWE does there's at 18 where you talking about the length of the canvas aka the floor.

For the ropes if u just use water holes would that work
@The-Real-Term8 жыл бұрын
Good job except for one huge glaring problem and that is your ring post, I'm assuming you dug down 2 1/2 - 3ft but you should never ever ever have wood to earth when building outside, you will have wood rot without question. Always use concrete tubes and pour in sand and rocks/gravel to keep the wood from contacting any earth and back fill the rest with dry concrete and then start adding water so it can start setting up right away in its natural state. Please don't take any of this as hate or whatever but purely giving a bit of advice when doing any type of wood construction outdoors. Also for the padding and or ring cover never staple because over time they will rip and tear from multi-directional stress but instead use a commercial grade contact adhesive to secure the padding and cover, if you ever need to replace and boards just use a heat gun directly on the areas to loosen the adhesive, make your repairs and just re-apply new adhesive as before. Good luck!
@immersion7266 жыл бұрын

My only question is the ware & tear factor... That's the reason why wrestling/boxing rings went from wood to metal. If you look at it, a ring is just a very large bed frame. I knew a guy that made his out of cast iron fence posts and some iron tress that he got from a scrapyard.
