what about connecting a balanced 1/4 jack to a male or female xlr and also connecting AV cords to balanced 1/4 jack

Please sir,i have question I saw a sound engineer connecting both the red and white to 2 and connecting the ground wire to 1 and 3,,,,sir does it makes it balanced input?

That makes it an unbalanced cable. This is mostly done when the cable is used for unbalanced connections.
