I use wire that I buy in the floral section of the craft store. Not the thickest but not real skinny either. Enough strength to bend easily but still secure tightly. If you don't have wire you could use string, it just might be a little harder to get it tight while holding the bow.

I think your tutorial is excellent! I have been trying to make bows for my little girl but I want them to have long enough tails so that I can monogram a letter on the end of the tail. Have you got any ideas on how to achieve this look whilst keeping the same lovely shape your bows have?

Thank you for doing this tutorial, my little granddaughter's will be really happy when I make theirs :-) I have one question though and that is about using hairspray and safety aspect of it? I am sure that hair spray is very flammable but not sure if that wears off once dry? I have seen a few tutorials using it though not just yours. I wonder if spray starch might not be a safer bet?
