Why do people bother with the black lights just so they can see their rods.... Black light is a,UV, ultraviolet light....fish see the UV spectrum.....people think a regular white light is going to scare them off then the "black Lights' should be even worse..... Two main reasons where lights spook fish: 1) Any light, that is being turned on and off will spook fish, let it on. 2) Casting shadows with the light is as bad if not worse than turning the light on and off,set it up where you won't be casting shadows when you need to move around. All light attracts both fish and bugs....the light attracts plankton, that attracts bait fish to feed on the plankton, that attracts game fish that feed on the bait fish. It has been scientifically proven that mosquitoes are attracted to light and UV being the stronger spectrum guess what, you're also inviting more skeeters.. They're not only attracted to light but are also attracted to body heat, carbon dioxide, and certain chemicals found in our sweat. People may want to look up Ultraviolet light and see what implications it can have on you....

the blacklights i use are high up, and the lights don't seem to bother the cats at night , i catch them

We use blacklights for night fishing with flourescent line. Bass fishing it’s a necessity. It doesn’t penetrate in the water far enough to bother fish. I know firsthand. I swam out from mine just to see how far I could see it underwater. Literally ten to fifteen feet in crystal-clear Dale Hollow water.

UV from a 2 watt blacklight is 1.8 percent of the same amount of sun, same amount of time given.

@@bradleyrussell1973 Then there we have it,Bradley sees exactly what a fish sees... Now we can send the scientists to you so we can learn exactly what they see..... LOL If the sun was up at night, guess what...... you wouldn't "need" your lights because the sun would be up... lol If fish can't see UV under water I guess they just make UV treated lures to catch all you ...... what does your scientific eye tell you about that? LOL I swam out once and thought I saw a Pike, but he told me no he wasn't a Pike because he now identifies as a Sturgeon. Oh my,you Dee Dee's are hilarious.
