To be honest, I do miss the older Minecraft content, but i must say that I still feel the love for airship all the way to your most recent videos. Keep soaring, Bacca Yarro, the best airship pirate I've ever seen.

Nice to see new content from you again Bacca! I forgot to ask you something once, where do you stand on the ideas of airships becoming a means of travel once again? Like a flying luxury cruise with entertainment, on board bars, restaurants, pools, maybe an arcade etc. As that's been something that's been in discussion before.
@BaccaYarro2 жыл бұрын
I think there is some niche potential. Solar power is attractive for airships. And I wonder if a very large airship might outperform an airplane, given that airships scale better than airplanes. Airship lift rises with the cube of it's scale whereas airplane lift rises with the square of it's scale.

@@BaccaYarro I have for years speculated on what zeppelins and airships could still have in the world, getting ideas from movies, games and stuff like Steampunk and Dieselpunk even before finding your channel years ago. To me it is a technology that has potential as well similar to how you look at it, I have theorized on like how Leonardo Da Vinci and his flying ship probably would have changed the world back in the 16th through to the 19th century had it been built and researched by the superpowers of the time creating like flying warships back in the like mid-late 1500s and how likely airships as a technology would have advanced a lot more into the modern world as possibly like a means of travel, cargo transportation and warfare.

Haha been a fan forever glad to see you still going, genuine question and I am a total beginner to Blimps but would it be possible to mount any kind of wireless camera onto one? Not like full 1080p obvs but anything. Just an interesting project idea I could try
@BaccaYarro2 жыл бұрын
Sure, I've put cameras on blimps. They are great photography platforms because they don't have too much vibration.

Could you scale this up (~5m length, 1m width) and would you likely have to change envelope material and increase the seam distances (cm)? Keep in mind this would be a rigid airship with an outer "shell" around the envelope (sorry kind of an amateur at this)

@@BaccaYarro AP has sort of gone downhill the last couple years unfortunately, things just aren't what they use to and the Survival Server last i checked is barely active, build is still decent in terms of activity.

How can we draw a gore for NPL shaped 8 petal airship?
@Cooldude-ko7ps2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bacca, in the airship size comparison video, does the air inside the airships interior (rooms, etc) count towards the displacement?
@BaccaYarro2 жыл бұрын
Actually no, its based on block count

For step 7 where you draw a second 2 cm line, is it drawing another 2 cm away from the first 2cm line or is actually just the outer line from the first gore ? Also, when you fold before glueing for the gas tight seams, how do you get it to stay folded? mines keeps unfolding.
@BaccaYarro9 ай бұрын
It would be an additional 2 cm from the first gore, so 4 cm total from the outline of the envelope pattern. Sometimes when I am making that fold before glueing the gas tight seam I will tape it back with painters tape, and sometimes I will just put a can of soda on it. Anything to temporarily hold it is fine. If you use painters tape, that section will not have any glue on it. So use a small piece of tape. If you put a can of soda on top, it will get messy from the glue.

Can we use hot glue gun?
@BaccaYarro Жыл бұрын
You can use that to make an effective heat sealing adhesive. I find it very effective for the first seam (the gas tight seam). Although less so for the second seam (the load bearing seam), because it is hard to apply the heat without risking damage to the envelope. Because for the second seam the iron would be over the inside of the envelope. To make the heat sealable adhesive, simply mix Xylene with the EVA hot glue gun sticks. About a 1 part EVA for 5 parts Xylene should work. Let the EVA soften, then warm the Xylene up until the EVA dissolves entirely. Then apply it to the seam with a brush, let it dry, then iron the two halves together. I find that simple heat sealable adhesive to be way better than anything I have tested that is available commercially.

Hi, sorry to disturb you again. I am currently doing a project on building a blimp prototype. My current prototype seems to be losing air very quickly, may i know what glue you are using for this video? And do you have any tips to seal the envelop better?
