I have one of those knitting tools just without the adjustable spacer, and honestly thing knots by hand is 20x easier. Even knotted rosaries.

Its really hard to do without a knotting tool, but here is a tutorial on how to hand knot that may help you out. You would need to tie a knot before and after each pearl (to hold it in place) and leave some space in between it and the next one you add in order to have this "tin cup " style. Good Luck! Did you use epoxy to glue the cabochon onto the rings you are wearing? What kind of wire or metal have you used for the shanks?

Beautiful necklace and how fabulous is that knotter!! I hope this isn't a silly question, but how do the knots stay tight and not come undone? Thanks!! :)
@JewelSchool
@JewelSchool 4 жыл бұрын
Not a silly question, Liz. Silk is one of the strongest fibers out there and the knots you are making are really tight. They won't come undone unless you deliberately "unknot" them. If you're using other materials like leather or waxed cord, the same goes. The knots are tight so no worries. :)

never tried this but is it possible to drill through the cabochon and put a pinhead through it and use as a droplet that way
@JewelSchool
@JewelSchool 4 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely drill through a cabochon! Use a small rotary tool with diamond-coated steel burrs to drill holes in your cabochon. Be sure to keep the cabochon under water. Start slow and increase speed as your drill hole becomes more pronounced!

How much is this necklace if you sell it?
@JewelSchool
@JewelSchool Жыл бұрын
We only sell the components, so we can't give you an estimate. The best way to determine is to look up a "pearl station necklace" and see what they're going for. You just want to make sure you charge enough to make back what you spent on materials, plus your labor! Get on some jewelry making community sites on Facebook and maybe someone there can help you out!

How do you make this without the tin cup tool?

It would be hard to get the spacing exactly right, but you would just knot it by hand.

anyone know why it's called a tin cup necklace?
@JewelSchool
@JewelSchool 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It named after the movie "Tin Cup" starring Kevin Costner and Renee' Russo. Renee Russo's character wears a station necklace like this, so we wanted to show you how to make one of your own!

Why is it called tin cup style?
@JewelSchool
@JewelSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Mary, great question! The tin cup necklace is basically a floating or station necklace where there is a separation between beads with chain or cord. The name came about because actress Renee Russo wore one in the movie Tin Cup! Very cool!
