Great job on the planter box!! Don't wanna sound like Cpt. Saftey... but be mindful of the table saw blade that's "up", when you bend down and have your head/face hovering over!!! I've worked at a Cabinet Shop for several years... and you'd be amazed on how people hurt themselves!!! Just throwing it out there!!

I thought your video was great, the box looks awesome. I wish my honey would do but it's not his thing. I'm going to give it a go this spring. I've always loved window boxes. Dill, mint and cilantro are my main herbs.

Hello , may I suggest a solution for perfectly lined up drainage holes that you could add as an update to your video. Take a drill and from underneath your window box drill up trough the drain hole into your planter for easy perfectly lined up drain holes. When building new planter boxes place the empty planters in the box and drill through the pre drilled holes in the planter into the wooden planter boxes for perfectly lined up drain holes. I'm planning on building window boxes for next spring and I love your design. How did these ones hold up for you guys over the course of the growing season? Anything you wish you had done differently?

They actually held up well! Really the only change is just in the order of assembly, which I think I hit on towards the end of the video. The way I first built it made the bottom a little hard to put in and I forgot to drill drainage holes to start out.

Curious why the bottom and drainage holes alignment matters at all - not sure you need a full bottom. Couldn't you just have a few crossbars that support the internal plants rather than a solid bottom? Especially if the planter box can't be seen from below. Just a thought.
