The sandpaper part was not clear to me. Did you do two coats of paint and then used sand paper or you painted using sandpaper ?

If you sans and prime it after applying the chalkboard paint abs then painting it again would it work ? I ran into the same issue where you can see the wood thru the paint . And what primer would be good?

Multi surface primer works pretty good. The guy in the paint department can usually point you in a good direction if you tell them what you’re getting it for

What was the purpose of using the scraper for the last coat of paint? And why did you switch from spray paint to regular paint?

If I remember correctly, the spray paint just was not covering well. I believe the instructions on the can of chalkboard paint said to use a card scraper.

What about particle board? Would that work? Using the smooth side?
