After 40 plus years, it was so good to see Giant Rock again. Back in the 1970's there was a landing strip that ran from the Rock down to the dry lake bed. On weekends it was the go to place for a fly-out breakfast. The "Rat Patrol" as we where called, jumped in to our little airplane landed on the dry lake bed and taxied up to a small restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant closed up about 1980 so that was about the last time I have seen Giant Rock until running across your video. Thanks for triggering the fond old memories.

Back in the 90's my band put on a show at Giant rock. We rented a generator and a couple hundred people came out. A friend of my bass player flew in with his plane that night and landed on the runway there and drove his plane up to the campfire we had going. The band set up on the slab of concrete at the base of the rock. The concrete slab from what I heard was the remains of a German scientist's house. A chunk of that bolder has since broke off right where the slab was or still is. Haven't been out there since. Brings back good memories.

I just bought the DJI Action 2 this week, remembered you really like the DJI Wireless Mic so I splurged on it at the same time. Two days of buyer's remorse followed for spending too much money. The pkg arrived and I needed a YT expert to show me how to use the Action 2 and came across this one of yours. Yes, I say at 2:00, I also got the front Touchscreen. Yes, I say at 2:05, I also got the batt unit and the selfie stick/tripod. At 3:08 I say, wait! What the heck is that? How did he get the Mic receiver on the side of that Action 2 module? I tore open the as-yet-unopened DJI Mic box and there sitting pretty in the charge box is a peculiar lil USB-C fitting (with contact points) that slides into a notch in the receiver and plugs into the Action 2! No more buyer's remorse. Thanks, Jeven! Thanks, DJI! What a setup!

One thing I would really like to know from you is at position 13:49 minutes of your video you tell us that you used your smart phone camera in the pro mode to actually set the DJI Action 2 to avoid have brightness whilst you move your Action 2 from shade to sunlight. Great video Jeven. I have the A2 and you've given me some points to think about there. I'll be getting my case for it. I realise DJI sponsored this video and they don't make ND filters so you perhaps can't cover it but in the future it'd be great to see you going into the different ND filters and how you get the best out of them. Including the polarised options

I've pretty much stopped using NDs with my action cameras. If you use an ND filter combined with in camera stabilization it can result in blurry or less sharp footage.

DJI ACTION 2: I wanted to know if with the piece detached from the video camera you could see what you are filming with the wifi connection. If you can't do it wouldn't it have been great if you could do it?? Have some kind of external monitor to see what is being filmed!!! Can they do it with an update or is it impossible because it's just a hardware issue??

Thank you Jeven. One thing with the Action that I find problematic is controlling the shutter. Even in UK sun, without nd filters, I have to raise the shutter pretty high. You’re in extreme sun there and I can’t see any filter, but your shots are beautifully smooth. How are you doing that? (!!!)

I purchased the Action2 and it did not come with the protective case. When I click on the link you listed it shows I have no coupons. I logged into my DJI store account and the case cost is $19 for the protective case.

With the case on my camera my ND filters do not get fully locked on and they slip off. I have even trashed one. Do you know of any company that sells a magnetic filter that fits over the Magnetic Protective Case? I am so desperate that I have scotch taped my filter in place, not a good solution. Help!

Tests by another reviewer have shown that the case itself only has a marginal effect on record times. It's primarily an insulator rather than a dissipator. The longer record times are obtained because the case has a magnet incorporated in it, which is sensed by the camera, and the camera then does not shut off at the original cutoff temperature, but at a higher temperature, and so it goes for longer. The case prevents you from getting your fingers burned from the extra-hot camera. (You can simply use a magnet on its own to get the longer running times, but at risk of finger damage. Substitute the case for the magnet, and in some circumstances the case actually reduces running times compared with just the magnet). Will this reduce the life of the camera in the long term? Well, time will tell, but personally I don't plan to use the case (even though I've ordered one) because of that risk, and because I don't experience overheating in the first place, in my use of the camera. I already use a metal cage with attachment points for accessories, and I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't giving me longer running times as well, through heat dissipation from the metal.

@@Rockstarrred The overheating issue is one that doesn't affect many users - I've never had a problem with it in real-world use and I don't think I will actually bother to use the case - and it's inherent in a tiny device with a very hard-working CPU. Purchasers need to decide whether the size is that important to them vs the risk of overheating in their particular usage. And if I remember rightly, the video is acknowledged as sponsored at the outset. So - I'm not troubled by thoughts of personal bias. But maybe that shows my own!

I love my DJI Action 2, you can do a lot with it. I know this video is sponsored and you are showcasing what you could potentially do with the Action 2. However I feel like spending this amount of money on something like the Canon M50 II would be better suited for the type of film your making here. The DJI Action 2 with the mic you're using is $900, you could get a Canon M50 II, tripod, and mic for that and it would produce better results. Either way thanks for creating and sharing.

Yeah but you can’t use an M50 II like an action camera. The point was to show that you can use an action camera for more than just action sports and pov. If you only want one camera then you can do a lot with an Action 2
