I think I'm going to give this a try. Love the video, very well done. My daughter wants me to build one for her back yard so my grandson can see the different types of birds. thank you

Thanks for your kind comments. I hope you will give it a go. You’ll be a hero to your daughter (I’m sure you already are) and the birds. Thanks for watching and good luck. Larry

Looks great! I liked the part with the fast forwarding thru the nail hammering.

Leisurely Logan thank you. The fast forward messed up the birdhouse build. This time I took those clips and made a separate video and added it back in, it worked.

Why would you not make the roof pitched to shed water easier?
@LSatch3 ай бұрын
If you start looking at 12:30 or so you'll see the saw kerf on all four sides under the lid. This will prevent water seeping under the roof. Keep watching and you will see the roof does have a bevel all the way around it. It's been up all this time with no issues other than dirty glass. The wood is cypress so it's very good at weathering the rain. Hope this helps explain why I did what I did

Did the drip rail work like you planned? I always like to see KZbin videos where folks make mistakes on their builds. I know I make plenty. Likewise I enjoy seeing a person working in a small shop not like most of the KZbinrs who must have more invested in their shops than I spent on my first house. Nice job!!

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, the drip edge is working. I know what you mean with some of these shops. CNC machines and such. I guess if you’re trying to make a living on KZbin or woodworking you can justify those machines.

Do you know roughly the dimensions of that roof?
@LSatch3 жыл бұрын
Not off the top of my head but I’ll check it out as soon as it’s light outside. Ok, it’s 12.5”x16”. Hope this helps. Sorry I failed to mention that in the video.
