How To Make A Coloring Book At Home

In this video I will be showing you how I make my custom coloring books.
These make great party favors, gifts, and even DIY workbooks for your kids at home.
The supplies you will need are:

Question, if printing from a laser printer, is there any way to make the white border as small as possible? Any tips/tricks is appreciated. Love your work!

Aawww you're so sweet! I'm glad I could be of help! With laser printers, they're always going to have that border, unfortunately. You'd need to get yourself a "borderless" printer to get ride of that white border. The only thing you could really fo is adjust your margin settings right when you go to print. On the computer, the "print dialog" or "print settings" box should come up, and that's where you can play around with the settings. If you were to type in "0" for the margin settings, it might say that 0 is not allowed, and it should adjust it to the minimum amount that is allowed. IF your printer is ALREADY printing with the minimal border on, then that border is already as thin as it can go on your printer.

Yes, I personally only do 3 sheets, with each sheet havjng 2 designs which makes 6 coloring pages, front and back, which comes out to 12 activity pages. My prices depend on what all the client order with it, but average price is $3.50 each.

I've only ever stapled like 9 or 10 pages at once. I haven't tried more than that. It works as a regular stapler, so just because it looks different doesn't mean it would work any different from a regular stapler.

Great tutorial! I was just wondering Where do you get the crayons for them? Just regular crayola crayons from Walmart? Just buy packs so they get the same color for the books or How would it work?

I used to get jumbo ones from Dollar Tree, but the manufacturer stopped making them, so I started getting the tall crayons from Dollar Tree. However, I also use regular crayons from Walmart or Kroger for different coloring products that I sell. The trick is to buy them in bulk when they're on sale. Like around when school starts, Crayola eventually knocks the price for a 24 pack of crayons down to like .50 cents, or, I've occasionally found them for less at other store sales.

I am dragging and dropping the images. So, with my mouse, I click on the image I want to drag over to my coloring book. I don't let the mouse go the entire time I am dragging the image. I only let go of the mouse button once I see that the image has successfully made it to my coloring book canvas.

The crayons are super easy. I have the measurements for the wrappers on my website (Link below). All you do is create a rectangle using those measurements. Create a design on it. Then print out as many of those little rectangles as you want. You should print them onto sticker paper that way when you cut them out and apply them to the crayons, you just stick them straight onto the crayon. I sell custom coloring books on my website, show case them on my social media, and then people just tell me what theme they want. So on my website, I don't sell a specific theme. I list it as a "custom order", and then people just tell me what they want. That helps a little bit.

On Canva, it's one of the effects, I believed called "outline". You would change the inner color to white, and the outline to black.

MS Word is honestly my least favorite program to create a design with. There is so many little details that it requires you to edit in order for it to be cooperative. Have you tried using Canva (online)? It's a free design website.

There are some simple connect the dot printables you can find on Google. For example, letters of the alphabet can be found on Google real easy. More difficult stuff, there are some online generators that can create them for you. Just Google "create a connect the dot".

For the inside pages, literally any matte regular computer paper (besides dollar tree paper) will work. It's because your just printing black and white images, so don't stress about that paper.

You can make your own gable boxes using Design Space or Silhouette Studio. However, the easiest route honestly is to just buy gable boxes from a store or online. They come in many different sizes and patterns, and then you can just customize the box itself.

No, you do have to pay to download the app, however, Photopea.com is a free website that is very similar to photoshop. It's a great way to get some practice in.

He's if it's see through, it's too thin. You want a paper weight below #40 but more than 22#. 28# or 32# works well.

As most of us crafters would put, what we're selling is our supplies, and time. I also teach others how to make these if they don't plan to use characters like these, but instead original artwork. Even I don't plan to continue using these characters forever. These are a stepping stone.
