I needed a stand for my parasol and have been wanting to experiment with concrete for a while. So I put two and two together and made a concrete parasol stand!

Thank you so much! I have been trying to come up with an idea for a base for poles for a very portable deer fence, so I will make my own pole bases, with a smaller version of what you made. And, totally worth it for the mallet head flying off, and you laughing :)

I like your creative idea. I'm thinking of doing a square concrete base form with a longer pipe that can then be dropped into a square planter then add some pebble rocks, soil, flowers and my umbrella. This way if I ever want to remove the concrete base I could.

Wow this is great. Wondering if I could make a similar one for a 3 Arm, 40 meter Rotary airer? Would it hold all the clothes firmly without tipping over to dry clothes outside on my patio?

Do u think u could do this for a taller light pole? I'm debating on whether to use an X shaped wood base or a concrete base.
@Sascha_LB
@Sascha_LB 4 жыл бұрын
Really a cool Projekt I may reproduce it. The "Mallet thing" makes me laugh. Thanks. I did not get the point why you wanted this inner hexagon. Is it for better ventilation or a better base for rough ground? I hope the stand will last because I missed some steel wires or steel mesh within the concrete. Thanks for showing Sascha
@CraftsWithEllen

It's both for stability on rough ground and for not squashing all the grass underneath :)

very nice project, but i got a question: what exactly was the purpose of that inner hexagon?
@TheNotoriousNemo
@TheNotoriousNemo Жыл бұрын
Gosh I'm so late on reply, but guessing it's the same reason alot of circle bases are concave, it helps with leveling on a surface.

Lovely project once again! One question, though....what were those odd scribbles you did on the paper? I'm assuming it has something to do with Egyptian hieroglyphics? Signed, #actualmoron

@seddypsp

So you used 10.5l of concrete, right? How large is your umbrella and would you say that the weight of the concrete was enough, even on windy days?

I've used it all this time and it works great for this parasol. I wouldn't use it for the huge ones, those would need more weight, but for this one it's absolutely fine :)
