You can tell the difference between someone who’s doing a job and someone who loves the art of their job. Yes i said art. When someone looks at their work with the pride of knowing exactly what they are doing, well that’s the kind of person you hope shows up at your house. Really nice. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼🤍

It's a rare thing these days. Mostly because builders hire the cheapest workers they can get, not the best. Most people building these days don't even know what they are doing. We are renting a brand new home and we have had the builders send people out to fix the same issues multiple time. How many times does it take to get the paint on a door right? How is it possible to screw up a door frame worse than it was when you come out to fix it? It's just unbelievable. There are still several issues, but I just stopped complaining about them. It's obvious the people who own the house have never stepped foot in it, and the property management people don't care, so why should I? I will probably be moving out, hopefully to something I buy, when the lease is up.

@@MAGAMAN I know this is an older comment, but I had to respond because I had the exact same situation, relatively new home and the owner didn't want to fix a thing. In fact, he actually asked me face to face, both of our wives right there as well, if I can get up on the second story and clean out of the gutters! LOL even if I had a ladder to get that high, which I didn't. Another issue was a water leak which appeared in the ceiling of the first floor, and blamed us for using the tub bath upstairs and splashing water out of it.

Yeah finishing is so much of it. I did a very novice job for myself, and the finishing looks like crap of course compared to professional, but hey as I freely admit I only did it to save money, and from a distance it looks fine. I did learn a lot, though, for example if I do it again, I'll mostly just use the tools where you can attach the poles instead of just the hand tools, because you can apply more weight on the longer tools.

Maybe this home owner didn’t haggle him about the cost and constantly say things like.. you’re sure you can’t do it any cheaper? This guy quoted me 1/4 of the price.. pay a 1/4 of the price get 1/4 the craftsman. Then they want to stand over your shoulder and ask you a million questions while you’re working. Don’t act like all costumers are equal. Contracting is a lose lose situation with certain customers. I know who they are every time I do a job.

I don't know the correct price for a job like this but I know for sure that it is better to have the professionals do it many times because it turns out that you have to pay twice, the first when you try to do it, the second when you have to call someone to take everything apart and do the job again. 🤣
@kbanghart

@@MrCrashsystem LOL so true. I live in an hoa, but as the other person said I didn't have all that money so I did it myself. Fortunately the value of the home is such that if the virus insist on it being torn out, then we will just take a couple thousand off the selling price, or convince them to buy it as is, if the market is still kind of hot or at least warm.

Did you decide to try it yourself? After I did mine, I realized the largest I think I would attempt to do myself is maybe 10x10. I mean, at one time, after which I'll get tired and relax :) But not in the hot summer, where you have to work fast before it really sets. And I found that using the tools with the poles attached seems to be better than just the hand tools.

Hey man, in some of your upcoming videos, would you consider adding some time stamps or just talking about how long these projects take? It could be really beneficial to help new companies with bidding and with DIYers who are wondering how much time a project takes. Seems like this one took one day digging, one day set up, and day pouring. Would be nice to know the exact man hours though.

@@evancobuilding Get over yourself. That mindset is why the trades are dying. No new workers coming in, and by your logic it will be thirty years before they'd be competent anyway. Meanwhile, current tradesmen are burning out, ruining their joints and backs too soon, and having to choose between turning down business or never seeing their families. And homeowners aren't served either, because they can't find anyone, so they have to choose between letting their property slowly go to ruin or taking on projects themselves with mixed results.

I wish i could afford to have someone come in and concrete most of my back yard... so much easier without grass... looks absolutely amazing.

That's a joke of ours at work. Instead of doing yard work we say we're doing concrete work.....making the whole yard concrete

Wow, this is art! Here in Brazil people are used to create sidewalks with those rectangular blocks and after a while grass start to appear all over the fissures, it is so ridiculous. All sidewalks should be made and look like what you did. Congratulations.
