For All who struggling in newer version in UE5 and did everything right and cant see the control rigs inside the control rig preview .. make sure to choose all the rigs we created from the left under Rig hierarchy and from the right click on "Visible" under "Shape" menu .. and VIOLA !!! If the rigs control are too large, under "Shape Transform" click on the lock next to Scale and set it to lower values then choose the "Shape" to be hexagon thick then press compile ... save Thanks Bodhi you are a life saaaaaaaaaaaaaver 😊👌

Thank you SOOO much. I've been driving myself crazy trying to learn how to apply an animation sequence to it's skeletal mesh. Your video is the only tutorial I've found that mentions that you have to bake the animation internally in order for it to be usable. Thank you for being so thorough !

@@BodhiTheMovieMaker when making new animations for the same skeletal mesh , do I need to make a new sequencer or can I just scrubb everything from my idle animation and make a walk animation and save it the same way ?
@BodhiTheMovieMaker Жыл бұрын
@@Luciferdelight I would recommend making a new sequence for each new animation you want to make. So you don’t lose your animations in case you want to tweak them quickly later. That being said, yes, you should be able to delete the idle animation, and then make a new animation on the same sequence, if you’d prefer.

Can you set up the control rig with IK so rather than manipulating each arm bone manually, you just grab the hand and move it?

Thank you. Your tutorial is amazing. However, why do we need to do laborious hand animation of the skeleton mesh in UE when we have so many choices of mocap system? It's just so easy to put on a mocap suit to teleport your face+body movement via livelink in UE in runtime.
@BodhiTheMovieMaker Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Yes I agree mocap animation is getting so much more accessible. In fact I made a tutorial on using live link to do facial animation. I have yet to tinker much with full body mocap. To my knowledge there is no free way to do body mocap. MoveAI is the best option there. For people who don’t want to spend lots of money on a suit. The reason I focused on hand animation (though quite tedious at times) is it’s a fundamental skill all animators should have no matter what mocap stuff they use so they know how to edit their animations if need be. And it’s the free option👍🏻😊 thanks for the comment. Also feel free to let me know if you have any video topic request👌🏻

Thank you for clarifying the target viewers. Yea, as I observed most filmmaker in this community are from the GAME DEV field. The creative idea and the output of their mind is just somehow belong to that gaming field as well. I'm glad to see more filmmaking&scriptwriting people sticking their noses in this CG movie area after the release of UE5.1 for 1.5 year. I'd like to see more of your video topics pertaining to how to ingest/connect the traditional filmmaking know-how, concept and mindset to/with the UE Cinematic tool. To make it look more like a real movie, in a cinematic way, not a game demo. Thank you. @@BodhiTheMovieMaker

@@BodhiTheMovieMaker well when i tried this method. with my own custom model, the control rig wasnt moving. so i had to do some searching around. its possible that i was adding controls to a alreadly rigged control rig character. because , with mixamo you can use their skeleton and what not. and can generate a control rig for you from blender so. i imported that into UE5 and i followed this tutorial afterwards.
