Why not just place a chest directly in front of the crafter output to receive crafted items instead of using hoppers?

Was thinking the same thing. Even if it did require using hoppers (it doesn't btw), it would have made far more sense to put a block right after the hopper to stop the items from shooting out too far, then they would fall right into the hopper. Never seen anyone use multiple hoppers in a row to catch a dispensed item considering the obvious more efficient solutions.

Yep! You're 100% correct. There are better solutions as mentioned in the video. I'm far from a redstone expert. Haha. Our goal here to give a super basic guide that people can take and improve from there. Thanks for the comment and tips!
