Thanks Brenda. Really happy with the first go. 2nd one is almost finished and changed the dimensions so got a bigger top opening which i think is better.

Thanks so much. Proof will be in the testing. I think the top aperture isn't quite wide enough so im going to change the angle of the cut and make it a tad bigger.

@@SweeniesCreekFarm only one way to find out. Main thing is your giving it a go. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.

Such a good idea about the dump/tip. We have some around but a recycle center should be at everyone! Nice handy handle LOL Great job!!

the mark 2 version turned out better. A bit wider at the top. We love the recycle centre

That's awesome!! Going to have to make a few myself for doing ours. Right now we just use an old road pylon but it's not perfect

The mark II version is better. I made the top length 4 inches longer resulting in a wider aperture and I think its going to work better. Glad you like it!!

Great video! I like how you used the ratchet strap to close the gap. We need to make one of those. We have quite a few birds that need to go to freezer camp.

Very informative! We have a few too many roosters on the farm as well and we have trouble finding people to give them too!!

Yes it can be very difficult. Not a nice part of homesteading but it is part of the process. Im hoping this can make it a lot easier and allow us to provide a humane end to our roosters.

That’s awesome I suggest that if you’re going to do meat chickens .I don’t know if you’ve done them before you might need a little bigger ones but super cool I love how handy you and your wife are I paid $17 each for mine so way to save money

Thanks so much. There isnt much we wont have a go at thats for sure. Im thinking the aperture at the top isnt quite big enough so going to modify the angle on the next cutout. Thanks for watching!

Really cool! Never though of making my own. I just bought them. That one seems pretty slender, did it work well or would it be better a little larger?
@SweeniesCreekFarm

we were constrained by the width of the axle and it has worked out fantastically. The chickens have plenty of room and LOVE it.

Hahaha Michael, Stephen is responding to the wrong comment! That was about the chicken tractor! He made another cone after this video that was wider at the top and it worked perfectly. And my guess is the chickens don't really love it 😔

@@the1plantguy Steve here. LOL yeah i thought it was on the tractor video LOL. The second cone I made had a wider aperture. I'll post the dimensions in the description. The one in the video is definitely a bit tight for big bodied birds like barred rocks. It did work brilliantly though and made sure the process was easy and humane.
