This gave me the idea to make a much nicer version. I work in a machine shop, so I'm going to make one with custom spacers so I don't need to use double sided tape, then I'll put a vinyl wrap with areas of clear so I can have LED's on the other side. I'll have a carbon fiber shield with glowing veins that is floating just above the components. I would also recommend you make two pieces of acrylic. One so you can take the film off and trace out every cut free of worry about scratching. The other so you can just trace the other one onto it for a perfect cutout.

You can do something against the overspray. Before you paint black spray it with a clear coat. this will prefent the black paint from getting under your tape.

if you did it right, you could also add some leds to the armor. ive seen some custom gpu backplates that used leds that turned out pretty great and they sed acrylic just like in this video. my only concern would be even light distribution to avoid bright spots.

Man I'd like to do smthng like this but i am a true encarnation of a noob, I have never tried this or any for of modding but this is not the problem , it is that i have an Intel Z68 ATX mb, the refference model, it looks horrible it has a lot of things on it but the worst thing out of all is that the satas and other ports near the down-left corner of ur mb are right where the Asus Rog logo would be at ur model (sorry for my bad explanation, I am really bad at this).
