Would a thin waterproof tape prevent the seem you ended up with?
@PatriotDIY9 ай бұрын
Possibly. Also I got the seam because I flipped the slab. If you can get the top smooth enough without flipping it, that would eliminate the seam too. Or if the slab was 8 ft or less you wouldn't need the extension
@mikehammer10847 ай бұрын
Nice work! I made a concrete counter top for an outdoor bbq that was greater than 8 feet. I addressed the “seam” issue by segmenting the countertop to account for that.

You can use an orbital sander to vibrant the forms
@Geezer19554 ай бұрын
I was wondering why you had to use the bottom side as the finished top? I want to do a smaller version of this for an outdoor rolling bar and storage cabinet. I was thinking about making a form like yours and finishing the topside .
@PatriotDIY4 ай бұрын
@markriley24 you can do that, doing it like this is just and easy way to make the "top" so smooth

How did you install the concrete slab to the actual bottom cabinets? A strong adhesive? Did I miss that in the video?

I am planning on doing this when I get my kitchen remodeled since I am doing it myself but I wanted to ask, is there a way to add in stuff to make it look like marble?
@zpdrsn63158 ай бұрын
Its gonna be difficult to get a marble finish with concrete but I would recommend looking into epoxy counter tops, you can get a very good marble finish with those.

Did you use any additives or just 5000 PSI mix with the added color?

No other additives

Would sand topping mix be better for an exterior concrete countertop? I'm in the middle of my outdoor kitchen project. I'm ready to start buildthe countertop. I ordered quickrete countertop mix cement.

Why not use the bottom part?
@PatriotDIY Жыл бұрын
If you are asking why I flipped it, Its because the surface that was against the melamine is perfectly smooth right out of the mold. You could of course use either side as your "top", I just found this way to be easier.

Can’t it crack tho?
@PatriotDIY10 ай бұрын
It could, but not likely if you use the high density concrete, use the wire for reinforcement, and have a well supported base for it to sit on. It's not under any stress and will have minimal weight on it.

That's right it's called protesting. The more people that write comments about how KZbin has been destroyed by overzealous advertising, the more pressure they will have to dial back the advertising.

Why not float the top while it's wet and put bullnose on it? Then you don't have that line. Also acid stain it bro but you gave me good ideas though
