Hey honeybee! Sorry about the confusion. The torso block ends at the hip, but in a previous video where I made a gingham dress (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4bRh6l_dpmBjaM) at 1:00 I show how I made my torso block to be the total length of the dress that I was making. hi Shania! If i want to make my zipper on the side of the skirt rather than the back, how would I do that? This quarantine is making me stir crazy, and making some cute new clothes sounds perfect!
@ShaniaShania4 жыл бұрын
Hey Chloe! That's a great question! To put the zipper on the side : when you have the 2 2 back pieces (07:13) you sew them together along what would be the middle seam, so that you'd have 1 big piece for the back of your skirt. Then you'd sew one side of the skirt's back panel to one side of the skirt's front panel. Once you've done that, you'd have one open side of the skirt where you would then install your zipper. Let me know if that makes sense. Feel free to DM on insta (@shaniainside) if you have more questions. Hope this helps! p.s. I totally agree that now is the time to get those cute clothes ready for post-quarantine! xoxo, Shania

Hi, great tutorial! I have 1 question, at 4:42 when tracing and pinning does it matter how many times the fabric is folded? Thanks!
@ShaniaShania4 жыл бұрын
Hey Allison, that's a good question! I might've made that part a bit complicated because I was doing my best to save fabric. What matters most is that you fold your fabric in half once for the center front/middle panel of your skirt. For the 2 side panel pieces, you don't need to fold your fabric. I hope this answers your question, let me know if you're still confused. xoxo, Shania

How do you sew a lining onto this skirt? Do I have to make a lining out of the panels that the main fabric is sewn from too? :)
@kelsiaustin43034 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU!! I have a quick question, I am using a thinner fabric that requires me to have two pieces of fabric for the entire pattern so it is not see through. Do I sew (with right and wrong sides facing eachother) the back pieces first and do the same with the rest?? Sorry that was a confusing question and I am very confused as well lol
@ShaniaShania4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kelsi! Since you're creating a lining for your skirt to stop it from being see-through, what you would do is follow the tutorial straight through (minus the zipper part and the slit part) for one layer of fabric. Then, repeat the same exact steps for the 2nd layer of fabric. Then, you would could connect the 2 layers (right sides facing), then turn them inside out so that the seams are hidden, and then you'd install your zipper and add the slits. Hope this helps! xoxo, Shania

I have a quick question: in what way did you fold the fabric before you outline it? In half or fold the two sides into the middle?
@ShaniaShania3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don’t fully understand your question can you send me timestamps please of the part you’re asking about?

@@valeriebaltazar3585 at 3:55 i folded the fabric in half to trace the center front panel of the skirt...but all other pieces can be cut individually on unfolded fabric...let me know if you're still confused

Hey! i just got into sewing and i was wondering if you think 100% cotton fabric would be good for this!
@ShaniaShania4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! just make sure that the fabric is non-stretch. Happy Sewing! xoxo, Shania
