Hi Devin, you can buy a small amount from most pottery suppliers as a sample or in larger amounts. I used underglaze paint, for the black and brown, which I bought from the supplier? I only added clear glaze to the nose and eyes. You could use other paints once it has been fired. Porcelain has a soft sheen so didn't use a glaze. I would not like to use gloves as it would be hard to feel what you are doing but that is up to you.😊

Hi Donna, Yes it was fired. I used underglaze to paint at leatherhard stage. I only put glaze (clear) on the nose and eyes. Porcelain has a soft sheen so it looks good unglazed for this little dog. 😊

Sara Sara Hi Sara, I put the paper in to keep the clay moist for longer, to hollow the clay and to support the clay. I sometimes cut and take the paper out. There needs to be a hole pricked somewhere to allow air to escape. Cheers Carole

Hi Cassie, first of all..take or find pictures of a cat from both sides. Decide: sitting or standing! Then just do exactly what you see. Look at how I made the body of my tiger or elephant and carry on from there.😊

Jane Clermont The dampened newspaper slows down the drying process and helps to keep areas hollow, saving on clay and also supports the shape. I always make a small hole somewhere to allow air to escape. If the piece is completely closed it will explode in the kiln.
