When I first started spinning, 5 years ago, I made a spindle using 2 plastic lids. One was smaller than the other. I drilled the center holes. Put them together one onside the other and put a dowel through both lids. That made the whorl stable without using tape. I use the fibers from Homespun Lion brand yarn. I'm still spinning with spindles, but I've made and carved every spindle I have. I love spinning, it's so peaceful. Thanks for this video, it helps new spinners.

I made my own drop spindle because at the time I didn't wat to spend lots of money and then not like it x so being rather crafty I used what was to hand at the time lol x and to practice and not worry about the amount your spending is great xxx love and hugs from us both x

Hi Sadie, Thankyou so much for the Heart reply. I watched one yesterday where you used "Dog Combs" on these using leftover yarn bits, well I managed to find some on Amazon today, says can be used for carding yarn or as dog combs. I ordered some & they're coming tomorrow , 2 in a pack, only cost £6. They'll be a "Stocking Filler" I know this post is from 10 months ago but knew you would see my reply. Take care, stay safe Live & hugs From one friend to another Jen xxxx

@@sadiesspincraft6319 Hi Sadie, loved your idea of making your own Drop Spindle, if I'd been able to make one before I bought what I did I would have, but I didnt want to give the game away as to what I'd spent the money on. Terry usually does this at Christmas he just tells me how much I can spend. It's not a huge amount but enough to get good bargains. I'm housebound at this time of year. Especially when its cold & wet. The LOCKDOWNS FORTUNATELY havent made a right lot of difference as I can only get out when its warm or dry. Think I've only been out 5 or 6 times since March. Anyway that's enough bout me. Your "Crafting Space & mine" look exactly the same. I can be quite messy but then when I decide to tidy it up, it takes me ages.. When I think I've tidied it, then something else appears then wonder to myself "where did that come from" lol. Take care, stay safe . Live &, hugs to you and Hunter From one friend to another Jen xxxx

@@sadiesspincraft6319 Hi Sadie, I'm sure I will, I've done all sorts of crafting , the weaving one i have mainly do. I have a lot of tail ends & often wondered whether I could spin with them or not. Now you've shown how to do it I'm even more excited about it. All them ends will definitely be made into another fibre, to spin & weave with them I think it will be even better. Definitely going to get some of that "Super Thick "stuff but I think maybe I should wait a few weeks. Lol Take care, stay safe. Love & hugs to the both of you. From one friend to another Jen xxxx
