Hi, when using the element do you use a blend mode for the fire or use a matte? If so do you need to add that glow to the matte also? Great tutorials also btw.

Hey, Hugo I like to watch your tutorials and I always get motivation from them I want to learn vfx and compositing art in Europe. What schools or courses you believe can help me to get a great start at this direction? I recently finished my law bachelor course It would be nice if you could give me a piece of advice

Hmm... is it the lens spilling the light or the smoke released from the fire causing a volumetric scatter around the flames? Both contribute to the effect I think ;o I didn't get a notification btw! Just randomly clicked to see what Hugo has been up to ;D

Hey Hugo, the amount of comments here for the view count should show how good your videos and tutorials are. As an editor going into compositing, these are helping me way more than any other tutorial on the web. I love the "Deconstructs" and these episodes. I hope you could get into some more detail about keying and some other more technical aspects later. Really hoping for an advanced nuke class on fxphd or something like that. How can we help to make that happen?
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 7 жыл бұрын
+Pedro Msl Thanks so much for the kind words. I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. Regarding FXPHD, I have done a class before for them. Years ago when I was still at The Mill. It was a nuke studio class. Maybe someday I will do another class for them. Thanks so much again for watching.

honestly I don't see the point. You are just adding glow to footage which is already correct as the fire sits in his natural context...it would have made more sense if you integrate this very fire with another footage that has a different exposure, , so extra glow might be needed, or CG fire.
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 6 жыл бұрын
+0ur0 It is the concept of making a exponential glow. Sorry you are disappointed. Thanks for watching anyway. Maybe the other videos in the channel could do something for you? Thanks

10:30 "shitty after effects plugin"... really? :/ you can do the same stuff in AE as you did here...
@HugosDesk
@HugosDesk 4 жыл бұрын
What I mean is we don't use a lot of Plugins in the VFX industry. We prefer to use your own methods and pipelines so we have total control over all aspects of the VFX shot we are trying to make. In large scale VFX project, you can't depend on plugins. You need to control your images 100% this menas controlling the values, the exposure, etc. And yes you can do this in After Effects but if you do it manually in Nuke you will know and understand what you are making to the image, Plugins are terrible for a compositor. They make you lazy!

@@HugosDesk Dude... your glow looks terrible. It's not about plugins, its about the result no matter what software was used. I would never approve this kind of glow.

@@reginaldpoofta5 Forgot to mention that this is just a simple tutorial and I was making a joke. I am a VFX supervisor with 20 years of experience and not a KZbinr! And I understand where you are coming from. I'm just showing an exponential glow created n nUke. It's up to you to make it work for your own shot!
