Hey! Brill little series this.. I’m looking at my SF50 right now and thinking about a cooling system for it. Don’t really want to do an immersed coil as I’ll lose the ability to pressure transfer. Maybe thinking I’ll use a beer chiller with glycol and run it through some tubing around the outside under a neoprene jacket - similar to yours but cold. It should not interfere with my heating belt then either!

Thank you! And that's a great idea - maybe just coil some 3/8th pipe under the jacket to make it cheaper?!

Yes! But I’m probably going 3/16 as it’s easier to manipulate and I can get more around for a greater surface area (plus I have a load already 😂.

What manufacturer is the heat belt and does it reach the whole way around? The largest homebrew belt i can find is 900mm long

Hi, No it doesn’t go the whole way around - it’s not necessary as the water volume heats up (and the yeast kicks it around too) I purchased it from The Malt Miller 👍

Stick on velcro spots. Or a strip. No need for the bungee 🎉

Does that heat belt maintain temp? Seems very narrow and it might struggle to heat the entirety of the batch. MM did a video recently about the fermzilla and one of the extras was a insulated heating jacket which might work better. Not that I'm dissing your impressive diy efforts😂

Hiya, Yes it does a great job already and with the insulation it should be even better 👍 I’ll look into that jacket to see if it’s compatible but I did ask MM first to see if they had alternatives but they didnt 😔 Cheers 🍺
