Essentially any kind of paint/color can be used. Here I have used ink that is used to refill printer cartridges. They come in bottles of CMY(Cyan,Magenta,Yellow) colors which can be mixed in different proportions to make any color. The amount of water mixed depends on how light or dark color you want. You may use poster colors, water colors, acrylic colors or any other type of color you have.

Just paint it brown. Mix small amount of white glue with color to give it a little shine.

Nikhita Nair Yes, I forgot to tell that black color is the ink on newspaper. For this effect use a diluted color so that the ink on newspaper remains visible.
