I really enjoyed the presentation at your sons’ school. It pleases me that you encourage their heritage. Many years ago I had the honor to teach some children from Vietnam. The family lost a daughter on the Laotian death march and refused to teach their other girls about their heritage. It broke my heart.

These pot holders are a lot of work, but well worth it. I've made several. They are great to hang on the wall, or for buffet style dinners to put under hot pans or hot dishes. I will definately try your binding technique. That will help lessen the bulk at the corners.

Ms Vivian this is absolutely beautiful! as always I love how you make basting and doing mitered corners so easy, they have been my nemisis for quite awhile now, and i've tried to stay away from projects with them if i can. But with your method i am now able to do it wiith ease! i have learned so much from you! when i started watching you i knew nothing about sewing. However, with your patience and attention to detail you have taught me how to sew by hand from back to when making face masks was a neccesity and the hand made ones were so much more comfortable. you gave me the courage to go out and buy my 1st sewing machine and i haven't looked back! This will be so easy to be made into a hot pad by simply adding your cotton batting or insulate and quilting it on to the blue piece before you start adding the triangles. maybe making the blue 1/3" instead instead of 1/4" to allow for the added thickness of the batting. Use is as post holder, use (“insulbrite…get at Jo-An’s)… and cut it the same size as the last backing/binding piece. Very pretty to wear if made smaller. And lovey to hang one your Christmas Tree (use a marker or embroidered a blessing on the back) and let any guest in your home pick one to take home with them! I think this year I will make them as napkin rings, just by pinning a corner to corner and sticking a handmade napkin inside. We have a family tradition where each person must share a story about Someone or something was a blessing to them during the past year. (Sharing their gratitude for this year’s Thanksgiving. (It has been so much fun as my children & grandchildren have grown up. I think I’ll use a gel pen and write a request that they think how they can be a blessing to someone or society during the year and share next year, with everyone around our table how the blessed the world
