My screen doesn’t look like yours, assuming procreate update. I’ve not seen a new tutorial made for glitter since the update. Can you make one? Your videos are so precise and teaches well. I was not able to make the new brush using “shape source”

Hey Holly I had the same issue but I found that if you still follow her tutorial after clicking the right [+] select [shape] > then select the circle next to [shape source] > then select [import] > then select [source from library] and then the same brushes should appear
@shelleygoforth9683 Жыл бұрын
So mine didn’t either but when you go to the second part of adding the brush and it brings up the brush studio, click on shape and the go edit and you can search the source library “short hair” and same with the grain as they are on the side..it took me a while to figure it out too.

Best detailed video!! Thank you. Mine doesn’t say to swap from pro library under shape or grain 🤷♀️- I don’t even have any shapes at all. I ended up using other glitter brushes I harden already downloaded however and this worked. Have you ever had it where your colors changed colors after merging down? That’s what mine did.

Love your tutorial! How do you make the glitter fade like on your thumbnail?
@mapletreemakery3 жыл бұрын
To create the glitter at the top and bottom of the thumbnail, instead of filling the entire canvas with the first medium gray color, I started by getting the medium gray color and painting just the bottom part of the canvas and the top part of the canvas. This allows you to see the edges of the brush to create the scattered effect. Then I followed the rest of the tutorial to create the glitter in basically the same way, painting over just the areas of the canvas where I wanted the glitter to appear.

Omg what a great video. Thank you so much. I wanted to do this!! Maybe you can do a video for fur and hair. I am trying to draw a picture of my Yorkie and I can it get the fur to look real. Also I am seeing a trend for Camo online but with hot pinks and fall trees and leaves on top of it. It's real cute.

That's a great idea for a tutorial! I'll have to look into that. Good luck with your Yorkie drawing!

My procreate doesn’t have the general settings and idk what procreate version mine is what can I do
@mapletreemakery3 жыл бұрын
Procreate has had a couple of major updates since this tutorial was created including the new Brush Studio. Some of the settings that were under “General” are now under “Properties” including the “Maximum Size” and “Minimum Size” of the brush. If you want to tell what version of Procreate you have, in the gallery you can tap on the word Procreate in the upper left corner of the screen.

Great tutorial! How do you save your glitter as a brush so you don’t have to redo all the steps each time?
@mapletreemakery4 жыл бұрын
You can save the glitter texture file so you can use it whenever you want. Creating a finished glitter brush would be a different process which I hope to make a tutorial about in the future.

Shape source? Swap from pearl library?
@lisawielgosz58784 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I need to make but I do not have the Pro Library in my setup. I have Procreate Version 5X. How else can I do this?
@mapletreemakery3 жыл бұрын
The Brush Studio has changed since this tutorial was created. To find the shape source, tap on “Shape” in the left column of the Brush Studio. At the top of the Shape menu next to “Shape Source” tap “Edit.” In the “Shape Editor” screen tap “Import” and then “Source Library” and tap on the “Short Hair” shape source. Then tap “Done” in the upper right corner of the “Shape Editor” screen. In this same “Shape Source” menu you can set the “Scatter” (I made mine about 15%) and the “Rotation” (I made mine 19%). The grain source should already be set to Blank. A few of the other brush settings are located in different places. Tap the “Stroke path” setting in the left column of the Brush Studio to find the “Spacing” (I made mine about 33%) and the “Jitter” (I made mine about 20%). Tap “Properties” in the left column of the Brush Studio to change the sizes of the brush. To do this, under “Brush behavior” change the “Maximum Size,” I made mine 398%, and change the “Minimum Size,” I made mine 10%. You may also want to tap on “Apple Pencil” in the left column of the Brush Studio and under “Pressure” reduce the “Opacity” to “None.” When you’re done with editing the brush, tap “Done” in the upper right corner of the Brush Studio. I hope this helps!

How can I do this w/version 5x?
@aubriix30264 жыл бұрын
Just one question, how do you get it to show like that like how it shows a lightning brush and all that cause on mine it just shows how to edit the basic brush
@mapletreemakery4 жыл бұрын
Procreate 5 added the Brush Studio, so making the brush is a bit different. To change the Shape Source, tap on Shape in the left column of the Brush Studio. Tap Edit next to Shape Source at the top of the screen. In the Shape Editor screen, tap Import and then Source Library. In the Source Library, choose a shape and then tap Done in the upper right corner of the Shape Editor screen. The other brush settings are located in the left column of the Brush Studio, but some of the names are different. For instance, the Size Limits are located under Properties. You can also tap on the Apple Pencil setting and reduce the Opacity slider under Pressure to None if you don't want the brush's opacity to change based on Apple Pencil pressure.

Since I made this tutorial Procreate has updated to Procreate 5. The tutorial should still work, but the Brush Studio has changed.
@aldanaalhammadi3554 жыл бұрын
how do you go to shape source???
@mapletreemakery4 жыл бұрын
Procreate has updated to Procreate 5 since this tutorial was made, so the process of creating the brush is different. If you’re in the Brush Studio, Shape is located in the left column. Tap on that, then tap Edit next to Shape Source. Then tap Import and then Source Library. After you select the shape press Done.

It doesn’t look like I have shape source on mine? Had the app been updated?
@mapletreemakery4 жыл бұрын
Procreate has had a major update since this tutorial; however, the tutorial should still work. Procreate 5 has a new Brush Studio in which the brush settings are all located on the left side of the screen. To change the Shape Source tap Shape, then tap Edit at the top of the screen, then Import, and then Source Library. Pick your shape and press Done. Some other notes: You don’t need to change the Grain Source and the Minimum and Maximum sizes are located under Properties. I hope this helps!

This is great - I don't know if I missed this...But did you show how to make it look like it's sparkling? Like it is at 4:54
@mapletreemakery4 жыл бұрын
In this tutorial I just covered how to create the glitter texture, not how to animate it to make it look like it's sparkling. But as a quick explanation, I used Procreate to animate the glitter sparkles. I have a tutorial about how to animate in Procreate (before the Procreate 5 update). I used the same glitter texture on each animation layer, but on each layer I painted the Glimmer sparkles in a different way so they look like they're moving. It's difficult to explain in a comment, but maybe I'll make a tutorial about it sometime!

@@mapletreemakery Thanks for the reply! I will check out your animate tutorial in the meantime :)
