How to Make a Gold Text Effect in Illustrator

This week I'm going to show you how to add a bit of bling to some text, by creating a gold effect "Happy Birthday" message. There are a few ways to do this, but in this tutorial, I will explain how to use a clipping mask with a gold effect texture (there's a link to download the texture below).
This technique will work with any texture, so once you've mastered it, have a play with different types. You could try other metal textures such as silver, or more natural textures like wood or hessian.
