Gophers have broken through chicken wire baskets in my yard. Hardware cloth with 1/2" holes turned out to be much more effective.

Q1. standard chicken wires hold are over an inch and gophers can get through, DOnt you need the chicken wire with 3/4inch holes? Q2. The 2 feet by 2feet 6inch piece give yu a chicken wire of what depth? If I need a deeper basket then do cut the wire longer say 3 feet or buy a 3 feet wide roll of chicken wire?

Thanks for your questions, we've tracked down Mike to give you some answers: Q1. yes 3/4 inch is good Q2. yes a deeper gopher basket requires a bigger piece of chicken wire. not sure what exact depth the example one produced, will get back to you when we have a chance to measure

Are bigger baskets needed for dwarf fruit trees than plants? Or do you think I could use 9x9 baskets for them? Seems like the roots will find their way through the openings no matter what but I'm not sure
