Very well done. My I recommend using a constrictor knot with a heat shrink instead of a zip tie. You will get a much cleaner line.

Thank you. You are right a constrictor knot would be a good knot to use for securing the ends. I guess I took the easy way out, I had the cable ties and it was fast. I am not worried about the PVC coming off it was hard getting the tubing on the plugs and the cable tie fits perfectly in the groove on the plug.

great instructional video. and extra points for providing the sources for the materials

I have not priced the supplies since I made this float line but you save about 30% the savings is even more if you buy the materials in bulk, I had bought enough to make three. For me it was worth it because this country has such high import taxes.
@CNCJake14 жыл бұрын
Very nice job! Love the splices. I would have thought you would use a constrictor knot instead if the cable ties.
@Aceman30713 жыл бұрын
@mstk421 You want the float line to stretch to help reduce the ability of the fish to jerk the spear out. The Dyneema does not stretch. Thats why I put 125 feet of dyneema in 100 foot of PVC.
@philipppiier179 жыл бұрын
very impressive!!! and great instructions..thanks for posting
@SuperMarcanton10 жыл бұрын
i made a 50 ft version of your floatline and actually machined stainless steel bolts in similar shape to the plugs you used . i used a 417lb test Marlow 3mm lnside of a food grade pvc tubing 3/16 in bore size with stainless steel shark clips , total build for my floatline under 60 american dollars !!! thanks so much and do some more great builds bud!
@Aceman30710 жыл бұрын
I am glad This video helped. You cant beat that price .Happy hunting!
@Aceman30714 жыл бұрын
@bandanagang The PVC is 100 feet long the dyneema is 125 feet long It collapses in the pvc when you stretch the pvc over the dyneema thus allowing 25 feet of stretch.I hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment. I live in Costa Rica and I was unable to find the items here. And it is difficult to get items on the internet here also. So I had to get someone to bring it to me from the states. The websites I listed deliver but I am sure it cost alot. Sorry

Awesome job you did 🇺🇲🤙🏼
@Aceman30711 жыл бұрын
Sure that works but if you notice the way this float line is built it allows for 25 feet of stretch which makes it harder for a large fish to pull the spear out. If a large fish makes a good run on a line that does not stretch it is more likely he could pull the spear out.

4:15 I liked it so much up until the part with the zip tie. Use stainless wire wrap or whipping twine. Slimer profile/more flush that way, and stronger too.

If you have access to an air hose you could try and force air in from the thread side while using the vacuum.

nice build but to be honest mate i found the cheapest easiest float line is nylon truckies rope you can buy by the meter. it floats fine and holds knots well and is something like 300-350kg. costs about 8 bucks for 20 metres
@doradobeauty28038 жыл бұрын
where did you buy it .

Thanks for the quick response. I tried to laying it out flat. I was using a 5ph shop vac my Dad has. I tapped one end of the tubing to the vac and fed through the other end. I used a piece of cloth tied to the thread but just cannot get it completely through. Is the vac I am using not powerful enough? Thanks again.

Hey great video I really think I am going to follow your steps and make my own and save some money! Speaking of which what was the total cost for all the parts required to make this float line? Did you save money or break even?
@crazyyy2414 жыл бұрын
Great video! One question does your float line floats? I'm from Portugal and i both one from Picasso but it doesn't float and i want to know to see if i have a problem with my float line. Thanks.

Great job but i would've put some silicone in both ends before inserting the clips to insure the seal
@Aceman30714 жыл бұрын
@jalex1995 You can save even more money if you use a different line other than the spectra, the spectra was the most expensive part. And is way over kill for most spearfishing needs.
