Why the cap needs to be screwed if is welded? Wouldn't a tight fit (heat on the cylinder, cool on the cap) or a lose fit (for proper centering I suppose) is not enough?

actually, it didn't need to be so safe. it will be used as a jack under the ship. we made it more solid so that there would be no loss of life. it work at a pressure of 300-350 bar.

@@CallutLathe Okay but I was thinking the welds surface under tension is maybe bigger then the threads contact on that short distance...
