Beautiful job. I'm a big fan of spraying on satin Varathane as a surface protectant.Wood slides right along. No splinters.

Great and yet "simple" ideas. Is it possible to extend this jigsaw guide? When you have to cut longer pieces for example. I mean without having two guides, one for long and one for short pieces.
@AllFlavorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I believe you can, and it should work. The only thing I would keep in mind is that there is support only on one side, so possibly the jigsaw might tilt. having guides on both sides would be better.

Thanks Barry, it is Baltic Birch. I had one go before that with standard construction plywood. It does the job but not as good as Birch.👍

Thank you very much for sharing this jig seems very useful indeed. I am planning to do one as well. Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the alu angles? Are they 10mmx10mm?
@AllFlavorWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tamás, thank you too. The angle is 1,4 x 1,1 cm. And the thickness is 1,2mm. Hope that helps. But really any angle would pretty much work. Just make sure it's not too thin. It still needs to be straight. 👍

The cut can’t be that straight seeing how you have to apply pressure to one end seeing how it higher and on a surface

Hello, how are you doing?
@uMpzZ26e033 жыл бұрын
Whenever I use a jigsaw and ruler to support one side of jigsaw foot, or a guide supporting both sides of jigsaw foot, I get unappropriate results, the blade goes under angle. From my experience consequently, both types of jigs are inappropriate for jigsaw, at least for mine. I have green Bosch jigsaw. I measured the foot and blade angle with inclinometer, and they seem to be parallel say less then 0.2° mismatch, quite close. The blade is 20tpi, the reciprocial move is turned off, everything in order, but the jigs tested generally unusable. I do not advise making these, either with one or with two supporting sides. Only hand guidence of jigsaw should be practiced, or making blade guidance with two ball bearings to keep the blade perpendicular.
@AllFlavorWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Have you tried a sturdier saw blade?
@uMpzZ26e033 жыл бұрын
@@AllFlavorWorkshop Through years of usage I used various saw blades. Maybe some specific blades would be better. However IMO the proposed jigs are generally unreliable in way they are presented in Internet by several practitioners.
@CGreciful10 ай бұрын
I agree. I found similar results. You can get stiffer blades, and higher quality roller bearing guides, but at the end of the day jigsaws are not made for straight cuts. Unless you go insanely slow, tension will build up asymmetrically across the blade and it will torque and turn. For straight cuts, really should have a cutting tool where the blade is supported on both sides of the work piece, or super rigid, like a tablesaw. Everything costs money, I need a bandsaw.
