Félix Kir (22 January 1876 - 26 April 1968) was a French Catholic priest, resistance fighter and politician. He was mayor of Dijon from 1945 till his death. The canon gave his name to a recipe for white wine and blackcurrant, the kir, which the town hall served to its guests for several decades. When he went to the National Assembly by train, he usually took a bag containing a bottle of white wine and a bottle of blackcurrant liqueur and offered a kir to his fellow passengers.
