About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

You know why I really enjoy your channel? Because you throw little helpful tips in every video. Like when you were cutting out the blade on your bandsaw how 14 tpi works great, how you playback your grind in real time and explain what position your hand is in, how you mark out your handle to grind even tapers. Your videos are just filled with helpful information that anyone can use. Thanks for the great work!

The way how you show and tell is the best I saw this far. Very very nice explained what Is relevant to get the handle shapes easy and good looking too. Every starter in knife making should watch this it helps very much. One more thing I like she shape of the blade the handle... Sry nice done but not my style, I like it more chucky at the end.

@Simplelittlelife

Thank you so much! To answer your question: yes. O-1 is prone to rusting if it’s not properly cared for. I typically wipe a really thin layer of oil on my O-1 blades and never leave them wet. Good question. 👍

That is a BEAST. I'm pretty sure that could remove a limb with little effort. Nice job. You certainly are a master with your grinder. It's definitely not as easy as you make it look. I have botched more of my folders trying to sharpen on my crappy harbor freight 1x30 than I would like to admit. If I added up the cost of ruined knives, I probably would have enough to buy a better grinder.... 👍

I type this as im sitting in the dining hall an hour and a half north of Fort McMurray doing my best to choke down the garbage they pass as food at this nameless oilsands camp, wondering if you know how lucky you are JEREMY to be able to do this for a living and how lucky you are to have the incredible skills you have? (Yes I know a lot of your skill is due to work ethic and sweat). It must be amazing to always be home with your family, to eat the food you want, and sleep in your own bed every night. Youre living a dream man - good for you !! I would do anything to be in your shoes - although it must take a whole lot of self descipline to get going every day. I would love to be able to support you but after being unemployed for 2 solid years I just dont have the resources. Family comes first. But you will always get a like and a recommendation from me. I love everything you make and youre vids are among the best ive seen on youtube. Keep grinding man.

Great video as always. A suggestion with handles that I've found helpful with my knives is use double sided sticky tape them together. Makes it way easier to work with and match up. Then when ready just use a think buddy knife to separate and bam, saved a bunch of time. Great looking knife you did.
@kendavis8046
@kendavis8046 5 жыл бұрын
That is an awesome knife. Long may your client use it! Or display it. Or whatever they plan for it, but that looks as though it would work pretty well of prepping vegetables or meat (but as a regular use of an 8" chef's knife, it would take me some time to get used to the extra length and the sharp edge on the front.) Thumbs up, and thanks.
