What kind of clay are you using for this? I've tried some stoneware for this and it doesn't seem to tear so that I get the nice texture you have. Thanks for the video!

Have you tried making your own ash glaze to bring it all together? I’ve had some success in using ash, boric acid, and locally sourced minerals to create unique glazes.

Great video, such a cool technique! I was wondering though, would there be risk of the edges cutting you after firing? I've had experiences where the clay became quite sharp after firing when having sharp edges like that.

Hello Antonia! Thank you so much for your comment! Happy you liked the video. The is air dry clay, no firing needed :)

You glaze the pot after it’s first firing and the glaze will stop the edges being too sharp. You could use a glaze that “breaks” to help bring out all the lovely texture.

Hi, what type of glaze do you use on your thumbnail pic ? It looks matte/doff. Thank you in advance.

Hi, thanks for this lovely tutorial!! Where do you get your nice natural/uncoloured air dry clay from? I'm trying to find something similar but I can only find white or terracotta coloured. Can you recommend a brand, or search terms I could try? Thanks :)

How long do you typically let the clay dry before you begin with cutting?
@ta-daan9009

Depends on how much clay you are using, about 6-8 hours should be enough ☺

Thanks for sharing. You're a great teacher and the quality of your video is also very good. I wonder what sort of clay you use for this. My clay is quite sandy and I don't really like it for carving.

Awesome video, very informative and straight to the point. Love the look of your cup, it looked bigger than other examples i've seen. I'm going to try this later today. Greetings from Germany
