Where are you from? That kind of shield is illegal in every Larp i´ve been to.

Could you be more specific, which elements are banned in the larps you know?
@ludwigehrat95427 жыл бұрын
oliver thelen why it is illegal?
@daftprince22346 жыл бұрын
Australia, and this shield would be perfectly legal in most Australian LARPs.
@theram6076 жыл бұрын
i Think its because its center gripped many Groups dont allow them because they can be used more as an offensive tool in that way and even if the rims are soft they are still Heavy enough to hurt people
@misafrenchie6 жыл бұрын
I know this is super old Where I'm from you can't have metal like that facing an opponent. Non padded fronts are illigal as well, and do is using plywood die to how dangerous it could be if you feel on it and it splintered.
@SperlingArtwork7 жыл бұрын
In Germany its 100% not allowed, anyway sweet Work !
@theram6076 жыл бұрын
i could still use this type for unarmored HEMA practice so atleast it goes well with some of us haha. Wouldnt want to use the actual reenactment Shields unarmored.

Not allowed at my larp in California either
@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
oh bummer, yeah, in Australia this gets the tick of approval lol
@davidwinroth67163 жыл бұрын
In Sweden its probably allowed on most larps.

this shield IS legal only if he`d put a layer of foam over the front surface to hide the rivets and also weapon wont tear as they infact the shield.
@theram6076 жыл бұрын
rivets? those are bolt screws. if they were rivets the problem souldnt be there to start with
@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
I had actually thought that using button screws would help minimise their extrusion but fortunately for me (and unfortunate for most people who are watching this) this is legal in Australian larps. Sorry, I was unaware that most other larps don't allow this build.

Uuuh I’m currently making a shield completely out of foam... it’s rigid enough but got no core is this a problem?
@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
sorry I never replied, how did the shield end up going?
@chariotwiggly3 жыл бұрын
@@LukeMcMurray oh woah, yeah it went alright, never ended up getting used so still not necessarily sure if its battle ready lol.
@glennculhane77622 жыл бұрын
I’ve done this type of shield with a few alterations, and it has lasted for 4 years full of fighting in the battlefield.

Appreciate the kind words, thank you!

I mean this in the best way, but I feel that was far too much pva glue. You could have used a resin or really anything else if you were trying to give it a hard coat. I’m not sure what you were trying to accomplish there
@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
agreed, If I could go back, I probably wouldn't put any pva glue on the external side of the material.
@nohemigg955 жыл бұрын
Also I can relate with the glue xD

needs more glue

bahahaha yeah... It has been through MANY battles and has endured them all. See if I can find a pic around here... instagram.com/p/BfUeVZJlBLL/? I'll try and get around to a proper test video, one day in the next couple of years

@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
@Burgi0023 жыл бұрын
@LukeMcMurray3 жыл бұрын
@@Burgi002 Oh, ich verstehe was du meinst.

that's a lot of glue....... but still good video! :D

haha in hindsight, probably don't need all the layers on top of the material but I didn't want to risk it.
