Thank you Betty! Quilters always have great tips and tricks. I never actually thought to do full sized ruffles this way; I've only used it for the teeny tiny ones lol. The little paper ruffles make great little embellishments; so cute with a button or bit of fabric behind it on a tag or journal page. The only thing I don't like doing is inking them lol. I end up with really dirty looking fingers all the time and it takes forever!l 😂💚💚

Hi Bonny! My name’s Erica & I live in Lawrence, Kansas, USA! You just showed up on KZbin for me & I’m so glad you did, because I love this method for making paper ruffles! It’s genius & I hope I can get the hang of it! I can also see using paper that’s been colored with sprays & paints! I think you said something like the sky’s the limit, haha! I love your Aussie accent, as well! I have “liked” & subscribed & will mention you to my friends! So nice to find you! Erica❤

Hi Hi Erica! Thank you so much for your lovely comments! Hahaha I am glad you understand my terrible Aussie accent! Us Aussies have a terrible habit of using slang and shortening words or running them together, so you may sometimes hears strange words like "thisarvo", which is short for this afternoon lol. Ohhh yes, painty papers would look so nice too! I have lots of gelli prints that I have been hoarding that I could also use. Great idea! ☺💚💙

@@BonnyAndClive I didn’t find you difficult to understand at all!! I have several women in various areas of the UK who I watch on KZbin & I find all the different dialects/variations fascinating! I will confess that when I started watching during COVID in 2020, I had to have the “English” on the screen!! But now I’m used to all of them & you’re right some of the expressions just crack me up! I guess I probably would sound weird to all of you!! It’s the little things that make the make the world go ‘round!! “See” you soon! ❤️

These are lovely, but they are pleats. Another way to make pleats, is to make a box pleat. To make a box pleat, make one fold in one direction, and the next fold in the opposite direction. Ruffles are made by pulling thread which gathers the paper or fabric. There are different ways to make ruffles, one being to make a zig zag stitch over de tal floss, then pulling the de tal floss up to gather the paper. The dental floss can be fastened at each end. Invisible thread (clear thread) can also be used in place of the dental floss, or thread of any color can be used in place of the dental floss.

Thank you Patricia! Ah ha do I detect a real seamstress!? Lol. Yeh, for some reason the junk journal craft community has always called them ruffles. My grandmother was a seamstress and she made alot of our clothes when we were young, and as a tomboy I always hated when she made us dresses with ruffles lol. She had an old Singer sewing machine with a pedal foot and we were mesmerised by it, but never allowed to touch it lol. Fond memories. I often wonder what she would say if she if she knew i was sewing paper and cardboard and plastic and goodness knows what else. Pretty sure I'd be in big trouble! Lol 😄💚

Aww dont feel bad Julie. I think it's so lovely that so many of you checked up on me. I feel really blessed to have such wonderful and caring crafty friends out there that have taken the time to check on me, especially when so many of you have such busy lives yourselves! I'm still crafting here and there and just starting to re-open my Etsy and hopefully can get a video up this weekend. I really miss what everyone has been up to! Hope you are safe and well and finding lots of crafty time. I miss my sister dearly but she was my biggest recycling crafty supporter (and enabler haha) and I know that she would be wanting me to get right back to it ! 😊💚💚

This way is so cool!!! Now I must try it too 😉😉 what a time saver! I tend not to make paper ruffles because I'm not a fan of folding the little individual straps, but this way is genius!!

@@BonnyAndClive I made some yesterday using an old cook pages and dictionary pages. Dictionary pages are pretty thin and brittle. Thanks for your reply because now I will make some using yellow pages. I think it’s such a great idea to make a bunch and then cut off what you need as you go. They add “pizazz”.

So happy you made some! The yellow pages are thin aswell, but when I sew them I just use a longer stitch, and some I made a bit wider and did a small zig zag stitch. Phone books will be a thing of the past soon and all us crazy crafters will be trying to hunt them down lol 😄💚
