I saw you cut off long pieces of material... do you think I could use shorter strips than 4 m to save some? I don't have too much material but I would love to do the purse for my friend! If yes, what length would you recommend?
@soulfulnotions26483 жыл бұрын
There are just so so so many variables to that question! If your cord was thicker that the one I used, you may run out in the middle part, if your knots are as tight or as close too as mine, you may run out. I don’t remember and definitely didn’t measure the cut offs but the outer edges had more to cut off than the centre for sure. It’s up to you if you want to shorten, I would recommend only the putter cords, but without seeing your cord and knots there is no way for me to give proper advice unfortunately!

Could you add a fastening of some sort to this? I know I could make a lining with a zip and what not but is there a good way to attach a magnetic clasp?
@soulfulnotions26484 жыл бұрын
It actually stays closed extremely well surprisingly. And yes, you could do both! A magnetic clasp woks wonderfully, just get the ones with space around the edges for stitching and you could stitch it right onto the knots, just remember to make sure you pull the knots really tight while making the purse! I’ve made a few like that with no issues!:) Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions I can help with:)
I notice that you cut off a significant amount. Is 12 feet necessary? And is there enough left over to make another project? Thanks
@soulfulnotions26484 жыл бұрын
I say 12 feet because my knots are VERY tight, and I’m using a 3mm which isn’t common, most use 4 or 5mm so I give some extra room to make up for those differences. :) I’ve made the mistake of measuring exact amounts I used and and every comment was people very angry that they didn’t have enough to finish the project, now I’d rather be safe than sorry!

@renav2584 жыл бұрын
Hello, Beautiful tutorial :). I have a question about the cord lengths for the strap. I want to make my strap about 120cm (3.9 ft) long and I'm not really sure how to calculate this best. Do I understand this correctly from the video that the 2 outer cords are 12ft long and the middle one is 8,5ft ? Thank you very much! :) V
@soulfulnotions26484 жыл бұрын
Ok so, the middle cords you can add about 1 foot to them and the putter cords, the “working cords” I would estimate to add about 2.5 -3.5foot more .... there isn’t really a way to calculate it to get precise because there are a lot of variances and factors, I just do trail and error. To be safe I would add a little more than this even just to be safe, it’s better to cut the extra off than it is to run out of cord! Hope this helps!

They will most likely need to be longer, each knot will use a decent amount more cord because of its thickness. By how much, I honestly don’t know, I’ve never made any clutch bag with that cord so I don’t want to estimate and get it wrong!

@soulfulnotions26484 жыл бұрын
If that starts to happen just twist it right back up as soon as you start noticing it. Some super soft string does this quite a bit and it can get annoying to keep twisting a certain rope each row, but c’est la vie! 🤷🏻♀️

I was wondering if for the strap, you said you did 8ft and 12ft. Is that 8 feet folded to make 4 feet. Or 8ft already folded in half? Same with the 12.
@soulfulnotions26483 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you asked! In the video I made a mistake , I clarified that mistake in the description as I can’t go in and edit the video. The 8 foot cords stay the same, and yes, when ever you see a length of a cord used that’s the TOTAL length. Now as for the 12 foot cords it’s meant to be 22 feet in total length. That is the part I clarified in the description as I said the wrong length in the video!

Beautiful work 😍😍😍 Can you pls say which one is better for making this bag Single ply cord or 3ply cords ?
@soulfulnotions26482 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would definitely say that single ply works better for me for this one. But if you want a little bit stiffer and more structured bag, go for 3ply!❤️

Clothings rack ms are 4 feet wide 99% of the time so probably 5.5/6feet.
