Awesome video!!! I love this idea, the final result looks great! One thing that occurred is that you could fuel it via electrolysis, maybe using a little pvc 'grip' that has the water/electrodes/battery in the handle. A buddy did this with a little film canister noisemaker and it was surprisingly effective.

WHAT IF... rather than twisting the cap to release the pressure on the back of the piston, you depress the pin on the Schrader valve with a trigger/lever gizmo. More gun-like. Less twisty. More aim-y. The trick is leaving the S-valve open for charging while subsequently letting the pin/trigger mechanism to move into place to allow firing of the fry. Make it so!
@clangerbasher9 жыл бұрын
It is never the science as such I find interesting with these projects it is the materials. What can you get? And what fits with what? etc. etc. For example I didn't know you could get those preforms online. Wonderful video.

Great video! Quick question please, with the isopropyl alcohol, do you spray each time you fire, or will one spray last for multiple shots? Thanks!
@Nighthawkinlight10 жыл бұрын
It's possible that one spray will last for a few shots if it coats the walls, but no matter what the camber needs to be opened between shots so fresh air can get in.

better trigger for the piston version is to use a small cap (use the bicycle valve fitting cap with threads sanded off) with a pin epoxied in it and use that cap to depress the pin valve on the schrader fitting. that should be enough to pilot the piston, and also allows you to use the gun with one hand :)
@Alan_Hans__5 жыл бұрын
I have used tyre valves from car tubeless wheels for the same style thing. All you need to do is drill the right sized hole and pull/wriggle the valve into the hole. Fitting it inside the piston should still be achievable. The cap and blanks should be good for 100psi or more so providing the rest of the build is done well you could get some serious oomph out of it.

hot glue would work over epoxy as well. I have used it in the past to seal various high pressure projects. would probably be a good idea to rough up the surface you are adhering the epoxy or glue melt to.

One other method to get valves in to caps is to remove the valve itself from the threaded portion. Then, take that threaded portion and heat it, once it begins to melt plastic ( a test piece to be kept close) force the threaded piece in to the cap or plastic surface of need. When cooled reinsert the valve in to the threaded cylinder piece and voila, the perfect sealed valve. Melting the plastic as opposed to drilling it does 2 things. 1. the hole is perfectly formed around the thread 2. the melted plastic sticks to the sides of the thread making it a very secure seal. I've had one such valve for over 9 years. I use it to inflate a re-purposed air shock. It helps me lift the side of a drill press that has no lifting points or recessed areas at the bottom.

Nice video. Will any soda bottle preform work? What's the maximum PSI? I know the one you suggested is 60. Also where did you get your preforms?
@Nighthawkinlight10 жыл бұрын
Yes, any soda bottle preform should work. 60 psi is a good working pressure. The preforms can stand hundreds of psi, but the caps cannot. I broke several of them pushing it up to 100.
@taka2va10 жыл бұрын
It would be cool to make a semi-automatic version by placing circular metal contacts on the caps (with the same configuration of wires on the inside) and making one trigger that can fire them. Essentially seperating the trigger mechanism from the projectile.

@k-rodkev-dog744910 жыл бұрын
Im pretty dure that they generare their energy
@Nighthawkinlight10 жыл бұрын
They will get weaker after a lot of use until they eventually break, but they don't have a battery that drains over time. They make an electrostatic spark by striking a crystal which creates a misalignment of electrons between the positive and negative wire. I think it's probably science but it could just be magic.

What if you use the butane canister with it's valve and the tube going to the lighter's nozzle to feed the combustion chamber, it automatically pulls air into the chamber if you leave the hole on the side of the nozzle open to air. All to feed the combustion chamber.
