thanks for posting. the over-sized sensing coil is very Showy, at. this widget is Not the first of its kind; being a 'solution in search of a problem'. the rules of a transformer's operation are simple; volts And AMPS ALWAYS change adversely, and a small energy loss; meaning, volts up, amps down; amps up, volts down. so here we have 48 volts output form a high-impedance coil, at a Uselessly small amperage. and, the circuit on the battery side is Essentially Shorted. so the wires And the Battery will quickly heat up. cheers

David Davids i too notice this. in an attempt of duplicating that idea (although i use different transformer, a smaller one), i measured the current from the battery, it's around 2ish amp and the transistor and the cable is really hot without heatsink. and the output is barely reach 12v. could not imagine for 48v.

For who asking about a transistor, yes there is one in this video, It is a 2N3055 an NPN transistor, so powerful, I think It is no more exist ( at least the original one ) there are so many fake Chinese model but not in the same characteristic. you can made a powerful inverter with a fly back transformer from an old CRT TV or PC, you can get about 300 volt to 400 volt but the amperage will be very small.

Depends on how much voltage you need

48V * 25T(Primary winding) / 3.7V = 324 T for secondary. However you also have to consider the loss in voltage in the primary due to the Vcesat of the transistor which can be about 1V. so now it becomes 48*25/2.7 = 444 Turns. then u have to consider the voltage drop in the wire of the primary and secondary which in this case can be quite a lot due to very thin wire... maybe almost 0.25V... so now it becomes 48*25/2.45 = 490 Turns... so make that 1000 Turns on the secondary. The 50 Turns is the feedback winding and the 25 Turns is the primary and the secondary is the 1000 Turns. However if he is not loading it then only 324 Turns turns, but with no load then what is the use? also you must notice the polarity of the windings

The two smaller coils take the dc and allow you to create ac. The coils oppose each other causing flow in the large coil in diff directions as long as both coils aren't energized at the same time. With the proper timing...this circuit works fine. I made a couple of these..but i used a factory transformer that i found/recovered from other equipment.
